Embracedbylife Posted November 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2006 Hi. Neither my hubby nor I eat any type of seafood/fish. Will we have any problems finding food in Seward? I'm worried it will just be local food, and we won't be able to find much to eat. We'll be spending one night there. I'm assuming the'll be more selections in Anchorage? ysr_racer Posted November 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2006 Oh man, you guys are in trouble. That's all they have in Seward, Anchorage is worse. I wouldn't go if I were you :) (think she'll know I'm kidding?)
Chenega Posted November 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 13, 2006 I hope she knows you are kidding :) Several good places in Seward and lots and lots of places in Anchorage. You can get standard menu items in Seward at the Breeze Inn near the small boat harbor as well as Ray's (they do specialize in seafood and there's nothing like fresh Alaskan salmon). Anchorage is loaded (during the cold winters, we LOVE to eat out) with everything from the major national chains to some local establishments. ysr_racer Posted November 13, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2006 It's Alaska, not Antarctica. They have everything you have at home, from Apples to Zucchini. You'll be fine.
Embracedbylife Posted November 13, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted November 13, 2006 Thanks everyone. I know it's a stupid question, but I have travelled to small towns in other seaports and have had trouble finding a nice meal. I appreciate you mentioning specific restaurants, it surely helps! Budget Queen Posted November 13, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2006 Yes, they most certainly have a very wide selection of food. Their Asian selections are especially extensive.
GlacierLady Posted November 13, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 13, 2006 Seafood??? Where is it? I want some! Many restaurants here with the usual burgers, steaks etc. Thorn's and Salmon Bake my favorites. Don't let the name of the Salmon bake scare you. I love the rustic decor. Two chinese with lunch buffets. Two pizza/Italian/Greek/Mexican combo places...Cristo's and Apollos. Subway the only franchise. Sure wish we had a Red Lobster and Olive Garden in this state. Embracedbylife Posted November 15, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted November 15, 2006 Thanks Glacier Lady. Are these restaurants in Seward or Anchorage that you speak of. We don't really want to go to "chain" restaurants....local stuff is our thing! So these places sound great! Thanks!
