Expect lots of noise?

We're on the Empress deck...

Three rooms... one next to the pursers' desk (I think there is one room between our room and the desk) one down the photo gallery hall a bit and the third right by an elevator.

Anyone have experience with any of these situations and can tell me what to expect? I know, a loud day on a cruise ship is better than a quiet day at the office, but I want to make sure our "upgrade" from GTY to Empress is really an "upgrade."

What ship are you referring to?

I'm not familiar with all the Carnival ships, but I'm looking at sailing on the Pride (Spirit class). Their Empress deck is sandwiched between 2 decks of cabins (Upper and Verandah), so I had expected it would be quieter than for instance, the forward section of the Upper deck, which is above the Taj Mahal.
