We are booked for May 2007 - NOW WHAT?

Well we booked our land and sea tour for May of 2007. We have the airfare in place and are set to go. We start in Fairbanks then take the train tour through Denali and Mount McKinnley, then down to Anchorage where we board the cruise ship for our journey to Vancouver even have a few extra days to stay in Vancouver and see Victoria Island.

OK SO NOW WHAT ARE THE NEXT CRITIC STEPS WE HAVE TO TAKE?

What are the must do things we have to book early and would certainly not want to miss?

Having been there before us what are some things you wish you had known before you got there and would change if you did it all again?

Any help in these catagories would be appreciated as this will be our first trip to Alaska and want to get as much out of it as we can.

Thanks

Tom and Diana

When in May??? Likely you are not getting too far into Denali Park- you are too early, but do have more than the Natural History tour booked with your package??? You want to get in as far as available.

Did you happen to get an extra day in Fairbanks?? Extremely worthwhile and plenty to see and do there, a car rental is necessary. http://www.explorefairbanks.com

Since you reference Mt McKinley?? Are you on Princess staying at this lodge?? Be aware, if on the train, it is 50 miles away. I suggest you spend your time in Talkeetna, flightseeing is just excellent and likely your only way to view McKinley- if of interest.

You don't board your ship in Anchorage- is it Whittier?? If you are in Anchorage the night before, I suggest you get one of the last bus transfers and at least enjoy a day of touring Anchorage. Don't be in a rush to get on the ship. Plenty to see and do http://www.anchorage.net

There should be a land tour list with who ever you are booked with. Look over the listings for ideas.

Have all your plans and necessary reservations in place before you go, you don't want to waste time once there to decide. Have a great trip. :)

Thanks for the tips. Yes we are starting in Fairbanks have the entire day there. We are staying at the lodges in Denali and Mt Mckinnely that Princess offers as part of the train tour.

Boarding the train in Whittier, but arrive one day early to Anchorage so we can look around prior to flying to Fairbanks to start our trip.

Will be May 13-28 for the trip.
