Insurance for NZ/Australia cruise and Thailand

For us the trip on Princess Sapphire ib Feb, along with a pre stay in Thailand (our son lives there) for 10 days is quite a costly trip. Because of this we've been shopping for insurance. No one expects to get sick or have an accident, but it happens when least expected. If that occurs, it's better to be prepared. For peace of mind, we just factor in the cost of insurance as part of our travel expenses. We don't cover the entire cost of the trip, just about 2/3's of it. More than likely it'll never need to be used, but because of traveling abroad, the emergency medical evacuation would come in very handy if ever needed. I also like having the insurance company as the primary medical coverage, rather than having to go through my HMO 1st.

A very comprehensive website for comparing policies is www.squaremouth.com. Definitely worth checking out for some good information. It made the decision much easier for us. They have so many policies, but they're all top rated. We've called a couple times to ask questions and they've been very informative. Which policy to choose totally depends on your priorities.
