Foreign Transaction Fee

Anyone know which credit cards do not charge these fees? Seems like all of mine now do so---not a huge amount--but an annoyance.

Yes, they're a big pain. I was suprised to find out that my RCCL Visa card charges a foreign transaction fee.

All of mine do too. It is just one more way for them to make some money off of us.

CapitalOne does not charge a transaction fee. We just traveled in France, England, Ireland and Canada with no fees.

Yes-the RCCL card does charge the fees--although not at time of purchase. They show up on your bill at a later date.

My credit cards do not charge fees but they do have a higher exchange rate. Depending on the card the exchange rate is usually 1-3% higher than what I would get from my bank.

CapitalOne does not charge a transaction fee. We just traveled in France, England, Ireland and Canada with no fees.

 

We will be traveling in Europe next year. Which specific capitol one card do you have... or do you know if they all do not charge. We are very interested in getting a capitol one card but there are a few of them to choose from....

I have the cash bonus card from CapitalOne, but I don't think it matters which card of theirs you use. Just get one that has the rewards plan you like. One of the reps at their office should be able to give you all the details.
