joedebnh Posted November 21, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2006 We will be in downtown Miami on New Year's Eve prior to our 1/2/2007 cruise on Oceania Regatta. Really don't want to dress up and go to any place too fancy but want good food. We are thinking Sushi might be a good choice since there shouldn't be a lot of celebrating while sitting at a Sushi bar. Any suggestions, Sushi or otherwise, will be appreciated. Fetchpeople Posted November 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2006 Nothing beats Joe's Stone Crabs. Just be prepared to wait and wait for a table. It's a world famous restaurant specializing in, you guessed it, stone crabs. But everything is first class including the key lime pie.
PurpleCow Posted November 22, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2006 I second Joes! I grew up only a few blocks North and Joes was our celebration spot. Had both my high school and college graduation dinners there. Not to be missed and well worth the wait.

orchestrapal Posted November 22, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 22, 2006 Go on Chowhound.com for the best restaurant recommendations with any type of food and atmosphere you can think of.
joedebnh Posted November 22, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted November 22, 2006 Last time we were in Miami we went to Joe's. It was OK but Stone Crab cannot compare to NE Lobster. We found it overpriced and rushed. They want to turn the tables and we were really looking for something a bit more relaxed.
brian_uk Posted November 22, 2006 #7 Share Posted November 22, 2006 My only comment is to check whether the Orange Bowl Parade is still on New Years Eve and if so avoid downtown Miami as there is traffic gridlock. Most restaurants will charge a huge premium if you are even successful in getting a table !!!!! Brian
TYDesigner Posted November 27, 2006 #8 Share Posted November 27, 2006 Joe's is a zoo any night of the week and not if you want sushi. Take a taxi over the causeway to South Beach and Lincoln Road. Go to "Sushi Samba" for really good sushi and get these whole little crabs that you eat just that way.....whole. Really good food and great people watching. Lincoln Road is full of resturants and no cars are allowed. Great for shopping, eating and strolling. Another resturant, would be "China Grill". Be sure to share plates here as the portions are huge, but oh so good. Miami has great resturants and night life. Be sure to make dinner reservations, especially since it will be New Year's Eve.
