Kaytie Posted November 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2006 Hi everyone! These forums are so helpful and so interesting. Believe it or not, this will be our first cruise. Guess everyone has to start somewhere! We will be traveling with my brother and sister-in-law who have been on many cruises before but not with HAL. We are thinking about May 2007 - Adriatic/Aegean from Venice or the the Roman Empire cruise from Rome. Just wondering if anyone can post some reviews about recent trips on the Westerdam and the Veendam for a comparison. Thanks in advance for any information. jtl513 Posted November 26, 2006 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2006 We haven't been on the Veendam yet (13 days!) but have been on the Amsterdam which is slightly larger. I'm very partial to the newer, larger Vista class myself. More "elbow room".
tootiesmom Posted November 27, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 27, 2006 Kaytie, I've only been on one HAL cruise (Westerdam Nov. 12 - 19, 2006) and can't compare ships. I will tell you that we had the most wonderful cruise last week on the Westerdam and would vote to go on the Westerdam in a heartbeat ;) I've been on Princess, Carnival, Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and this was the best by far across the board. If you have some specific questions, I'll be glad to try to answer :) tootiesmom
HighSeas77 Posted November 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted November 27, 2006 My vote is for the Westerdam. I've been on them all and between the two...that's it.
JmzandJojo Posted November 27, 2006 #5 Share Posted November 27, 2006 Just sailed on the Veendam and sailed in May on the Westerdam. While both were nice.... the Vista class Westerdam wins HANDS DOWN! It was pristine and so peaceful. The V is showing her age even after her drydock upgrades.
