Rare eroller Posted November 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2006 Attached is a link providing some of the first interior pics of NORWEGIAN PEARL. I can't say I'm overly impressed. Aqua/Turquoise is not a favorite color of mine and this ship seems loaded with it. The atrium seems especially hideous to me. Much of the decor and style is repeated from previous NCL ships. Cabins are basically the same. The bowling alleys (there are four lanes all together) are an interesting concept. How practical on a moving ship I don't know? I don't think they are self-levitating like the pool tables on Royal Caribbean. Ernie http://www.nedcruise.info/norwegian_pearl.htm

KCat Posted November 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2006 I agree, some of the color choices are a little BRIGHT. I think I might have to cancel my trip.;) :p Kidding aside...thanks for posting those, they were nice to look at. Color choices aside (and I'm sure some people love aqua/turquoise), she is a brand new ship and no doubt will be a blast to sail on. I'm real curious to get a first hand account of the bowling alley. Rare uneamie Posted November 26, 2006 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2006 I know what you mean by the same old colors...nothing new actually. I would have liked to see more use of "earth tones"...amber, tans, browns, beiges and golds. Oh well.

CruisinMatt Posted November 26, 2006 #9 Share Posted November 26, 2006 Any idea how much they'll be charging for the bowling? I can imagine there will quite a demand for games. Are they also renting shoes?

Are they also renting shoes? I don't know how much the charge will be. I'm just glad there are no cabins directly under the bowling alley. Can you imagine! The main dining room is directly under and I wonder if you will be able to hear the rumble from above? Ernie
whatawonderfulworld Posted November 26, 2006 #12 Share Posted November 26, 2006 What a lovely ship, BRIGHT colors and all. No surprise to me that they stayed with these color choices...the BIG surprise would have been if they did change to muted earth tones. As long as they don't start filling up the atrium with those dreaded URNs  (a la Carnival Legend) I'll be very happy to board the Pearl and hit the seas. Thanks again for posting...perfect ending to a lovely holiday weekend! Ciao, W A W W ;)!

kimdave68 Posted November 27, 2006 #14 Share Posted November 27, 2006 FYI - the lanes are 2 feet shorter then regulation. Why????!!!! Please do tell more when you try it out. Oil patterns? That matters most with RG: 2.51 / Diff: 50 spec ball. 16 pound ball ok? Or will they only allow house balls? I have no problem bringing my own balls and shoes. ;) Haha I know it's for fun and it should be wacky fun on a rough day at sea!

Shoreguy...this has got to be a first don't you think? I hope someone remembers to bring a camera on the cruise (;)) and memorializes this most auspicious event. In all seriousness...a transatlantic bowling tournament really is a first isn't it? I sure wish I was going along with you folks...I'll just have to wait until September (in a few more days, my "days until" will be down into the 200's!) Have a wonderful time and I'm looking forward to your blog. Ciao, W A W W
electricron Posted November 27, 2006 #16 Share Posted November 27, 2006 Thanks for the photos. Also, the porters at the piers are going to dislike the Pearl, with all those extra pounds of bowling balls packed.:D

familyof4cruising Posted November 27, 2006 #19 Share Posted November 27, 2006 They don't even know the pricing onboard as of yesterday;) Yes they are renting shoes, max 6 players to a lane. My question that I would like you guys on the Trans-atlantic to answer is How do you reserve a lane? Is it first come first serve and they give beepers? What are the times they are open? Too many people to little time to try to get everyone to bowl at least once.

mlbcruiser Posted November 27, 2006 #23 Share Posted November 27, 2006 Weeelllll, it's a bit whimsical and bright, but I think I mostly like it. (Sure wish we were getting a bathroom like the one in the suite photo!) Had seen some photos a couple of wks. ago and these make the ship look a bit better. For those who want "earth tones", Carnival's Pride has LOTS of browns. Didn't seem to fit on a cruiseship (AND I always HATE the Carnival decors. Sorry Joe Farcus, I'm just not a fan of your style!) For soothing colors, try Princess and RCCL. I love their ship colors. As for bringing along your bowling balls!!!! Didn't you all see the bowling balls on the racks near the lanes? C'mon you pros, you aren't going to carry those things on planes w/you for real are you?! If you are REALLY GOOD, you can use any ball. Besides, the motion of the ocean might have a little something to do w/it. But to each his own, I guess! My neighbor and I were on a ladies' league for a bit and used to joke we were going to build a cruise ship named "Bowling of the Seas"! Guess NCL beat RCCL to it!) And oh, no! Do I have to bring my bowling shoes?! Shoes, shoes, shoes. The bane of my luggage! Thanks for the pix, though! They help w/the anticipation. sneakerstud Posted November 27, 2006 #24 Share Posted November 27, 2006 Thank you for thr pictures...to be very honest...I'm a bit shocked! It looks like the same then the Jewel (except Bliss and Lobby)! Same colors and same funrniture. Some say it is bright, but you have to see it in nature! It is really refreshing and puts you in a good mood and when you see the whole picture it fits perfect. I just thought (wished) they would have went even more crazy (after POH) or the opposite more elegant. I guess just the name will be different and the rest the same...so many will feel right at home.:D
