Speaking of the casino it is no longer separated from the passageway like the Dawn and Jewel. Like Vegas you have to pass thru the casino to get to Stardust. Machines are wall to wall. Night before last the moved four machines into the direct path driving more passengers deeper into the casino to get thru.

 

That will really piss off the non smokers that want to walk forward to have to endure the smoke. (like Carnival) :rolleyes:

Thanks again for all the updates Shoreguy. While there might be some things on the Pearl I'm not especially happy with (Bliss for one-but BIG DEAL, I'm sure some people like it) you have made me really want to sail that ship some day!

The shuttle launch is currently scheduled for 8:47PM EST Sat night with a 10 minute launch window; however, there is only a 30% probability the weather will be a go, per NASA TV minutes ago. The next available time is 8:25 PM EST Sunday night. DW and I are on a short (5 night Elation) cruise from Port Canaveral tomorrow, so we are praying for tomorrow night, cause we will be to far away Sun. Good luck viewing.

A little break and some pictures of food from the Pearl

 

Had the best Mac and Cheese ever for lunch in Cagney’s. Walked in and Snokelingbarb was eating some. Looked around half the restaurant was enjoying comfort food. Just a little smoked ham served in an individual sized cast iron dish. 3 cheeses and a little fresh Parm at the table.

 

Also attached – my entrée at the Bistro – double double escargot.

 

Finally the short rib and filet from the Bistro.

 

To Shoreguy & Barb...How come I'm eating mac & cheese here in New Jersey & for some reason I don't feel happy about it? Wonder if it's because I wish I was on that ship with you. Have fun \ A big Hi to all, Mary Ann

I believe we can still by-pass the smoke filled casino getting to the Stardust theatre by using deck 5 or 7. If we use the forward stairs or elevators, we can also avoid the casino.

I think, if Jim is employing the method I use, that he goes online, copies the threads, goes offline to read them, replies in Word or Works, and goes back online to post the reply. This eliminates the .40 cents per minute charge forstaying online the whole time. It works best with one's own laptop but is "doable" on the ship's computers too, to, if you want to spend hours in the internet cafe.

 

I'd bet that Jim's brought his laptop because he's doing the photos.

Shoreguy goes online, highlights a bunch of posts, then copies them. Goes offline, pastes them on his hard drive to read them offline. Types his blog entry, copies that, logs on and pastes his comments into the blog. Then logs off again.

 

It's too expensive to stay online too long. Not sure if that made sense but I know what I mean! :o

Regarding the firststars...I think I recall SG mentioning the equipment (is that a correct description?) is now being used in the Mexican restaurant for some other dish?

 

The new Bistro menu is different...but as the folks here told me when I first showed up...try different things. And I will...except (and I hope a war isn't started with this) I am NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, including but not limited to, being told to walk the plank...I am not eating escargot. :eek:

We tend to be a bit defensive when it comes to humour, since we are not widely recognized for ours. We export the best of our comics to the U.S. On the other hand the tide might be changing since Quebec has just been declared a nation within Canada, which is pretty darn funny...

 

...I say to you with humour and politeness.

 

As for escargots, ditto here, but I have been known to order them just to dunk my bread into the garlic butter. The little critters remain in their cozy indentations and I am happy and garlc-smelling! (I am telling you this with polite good humour.)

Thanks, Shoreguy (although you probably will never get time to read this and all the other posts!) for such great commentary and info. about the Pearl's first real cruise (I'm not counting the one nighter). Had to practically take my "less-drowsy Dramamine" just to keep reading about the storm! Sounds like great fun in SOME ways and certainly something to talk about! Glad you and the other CCers onboard are being taken seriously by NCL when it comes to getting things "right" - and ready for when my cruise comes around in March. (Yeah, that's right. Spring break. 2 bowling lanes and some beds?! :rolleyes: ) And now. . .I am hungry for macaroni and cheese after seeing that photo you posted! Thanks again!

I have been gathering some bits and pieces here and there about the ship. No word on webcam, but will try to find out today. There are still quite a few issues to be resolved on the ship and there are going to be several containers in Miami in the ship to be fixed.

 

However, of unfinshed things, the ship sailed out of the yard with only 44 items uncomplete. Not bad. Most ships sail with 150+.

 

Also, I was told the ship got a nick name in the yard as the Black Pearl, due to the blackout. Guess that makes the Captain, Sparrow and Claus as Will Turner.

 

The sun is just now rising on the Port side for another beautiful day. The winds have been howling all night long at Force 8. Tried to go in the hot tub last night ( I don't have one at home) and find a sweet spot where the wind was not driving the water, but could not, so it was short lived. Had a wonderful dinner in Mambos. It will defintely be in my trip report. For an intimate venue and outstanding food at no sur charge, I was happy.
