Wow, thanks for NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!! I in no way would compare Canada to Detroit but again, thanks so very much:mad:

The search information is the best way to find out ANY information on any ship, sorry that I pointed you in that direction, you will get more detailed information that way than any other... so you are welcome:confused:

The Canda thing was a joke to my many friends on this board that are from there, sorry that you took it as some kind of insult. Detroit is only a Frisbee throw across the river from Canada...

again, you are welcome for nothing... I guess????

I live right across the river from Detroit and Canada is nothing like it!!!

We are thinking of going on a cruise to the East coast as well. Might be the cheapest way to get out there :o)

Can anyone tell me what they think of this ship and the cruise to Canada?

The ship was in great condition. My fellow passengers were very friendly. Most that I met were from New York/New Jersey. A very good blend of equal parts of Race/Age/Marital Status. Everything on the ship was fine. No major complains at all.

There were only two things . . . . .

1. As soon as we pulled out of New York Harbor and headed north, even though it was in the middle of July, it got cold:eek:. Probably down to the low to mid 50's during the day and the 40's at night. This made the pool useless to all except the most hearty children. Caused most passengers to shun the lido deck except to enjoy the buffet. Did this dampen my great cruise experience --- not at all. Weather in Nova Scotia was in the low 60's and a bit overcase. I had brought an outfit with long pants and a windbreaker and that was perfect.

2. IMHO the configuration of the lido deck (at the time) made for a bit of a choatic, bottle-neck effect when going towards the buffet. The stage is set right in the middle of the deck and it left less room to maneuver around it. Therefore, when the deck chairs were full (b4 it got cold), people were standing around or dancing to the live band and it was meal time, it seems just a bit crowded right there. Not impossible, just a bit crowded/choatic. That is the worst thing I can say about the Victory.

I found the citizens of Nova Scotia to be very friendly and open. In fact, when I wandered to a bar restaurant for lunch, I shared a table with a wonderful couple who kept me full of drinks while we ate. They had the live band performing at the restaurant sing a song to me. Very nice. They wanted to spend a lot of time bad talking George Bush. Now I am one if his major detractors but there is something about people talking about your family members (even the stupid ones) that is just not kosher. (Americans are one big dysfunctional family in my view). Therefore, I kept steering the conversation away from the family shame (a.k.a G.W. Bush) Otherwise, very nice people. Very friendly town. Won $2 in the casino.

Go enjoy. Very nice itinerary. Just bring some clothing a bit warmer than you would expect to need and you will be fine.

Sailing past the Statute of Liberty and under the Verrazano Bridge is an awesome experience. The cruise is worth that alone.

Suzin - We sailed Victory a couple of weeks before you in '04. We lucked out our day in Halifax - the weather was sunny and in the '70's. The day before in Saint John was cloudy and cool. You do need to be prepared for all types of weather on this cruise. Victory has a retractable dome over the aft pool, and they do close the dome when the weather is poor and at night. (Oldest son actually had his best nighttime teen pool parties on Victory sailing to Canada, rather than on our Caribbean cruises.) There weren't many chair hogs on either of our Victory sailings!

And you're absolutely right - sailing out of New York is a great experience!

We did the Victory in Halifax in June. By far it was my favorite cruise so far. The ship is quite nice, the other passengers were quite nice. The deli onboard is a nice touch. The production show we thought were very well done and the adult comedian was very funny.

In Halifax be sure to go to O'Carroll's Pub.
