drop off location for nyc pier

i am leaving this sunday on the Dawn and i remember reading some posts about getting dropped off across the street from the pier b/c it is less congested. does anyone know the exact street address? i am getting a van for my family 9 adults but i am being driven in by someone b/c i have my 16 mo old and need him in a car seat. so i am trying to figure out a drop off spot where we can meet. if i tell the car service to drop us off across from the pier, which the brochure states as 711 - 12 avenue, will that be sufficient? we are coming from queens, only like 15 min, but i am not that good w/the city.

I don't know the exact street either, other than it's in the mid-40s. I know its about 3-4 blocks from the Intrepid. If you look that up, you may be able to get a better cross street for your pick up & drop off.

You could try getting dropped off right across the street from the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum. That's at Pier 86 12th Ave. & 46th Street. It's basically a block prior to where the congestion begins for the the cruise ships. If I recall correctly, there is an overhead walkway right on that corner so you don't have to attempt to cross the street.

The best place to be dropped off would be on 11th Ave and 51st St. I'm going there also. Maybe we'll see one another.

thanks, i wrote it down. i saw some of your older posts, that you were traveling w/your family as well. i am going w/my husband, my 16 mo old son, my parents, three brothers, their girlfriends, and my best friend. so we have a bit of a crew! maybe we will bump into each other
