Mooguy Posted July 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2004 A Real Short simple review Just got home from 4 night Sensation 7/15/04 cruise and had a really good time overall. We were in an Ocean view cabin on upper deck and did have the bathroom odor a few times but it was not really that bad. However the shower had the weakest water pressure I have ever seen it took a hour to get the soap out of your hair. We talked to others who said this was not a problem for them but that keeping a constant temp. was hard. The Good Lido deck & dining room food was good beds were real comfy John in the Piano Bar (Touch of Class) was a blast but in bad location to draw the crowd in Perfect weather ship was clean and in good shape for age Had some luck in casino AC in cabin worked great after we got going. Not so good The coffee waiter in dining room not so friendly (sometimes even came across as rude) and very slow his tables were always last to be served and get out of there. water pressure in our shower hot tubs over run with kids decor and (barstools way to cramped) in Piano Bar Talent show is nothing more then Karaoke . Another interesting twist was that one night the shows were done so the the late seating went to the first show and the early seating went to the late show. First time I had seen it done that way on any cruise I have been on. I would not let any of the above not so good issues stop me from cruising on the Sensation again as they were not all that bad but areas for improvement. Any ? just ask. makayjean Posted July 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2004 Thanks for the short and to the point review, i really appreciate it. Would you mind telling me where your room was? As an avid coffee drinker, i dont know how i am going to handle two cruises with bad coffee( the coffee was pretty terrible on the Fantasy also)
Mooguy Posted July 19, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted July 19, 2004 Cabin was U34 a 2 level upgrade from the bottom deck I booked GTY OV. One other note they always had a floor fan/blower on the floor around the lido deck food areas that was always in the middle of the floor and tripping people up. Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted July 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2004 I am not a coffee drinker, but my wife is - she indicated that on our July1st sailing on the Sensation that the coffee was quite good... no telling! (did you try the Duckling or Gravlaks?.... LOVE EM...) Tom
canesfan1 Posted July 19, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 19, 2004 I'll be on the same cruise on July 29th. I've been to Cozumel several times and have always gone to Chakanaab Park, what did you do while you were there? Anything exciting? I'm thinking of Paradise Beach this time, I've heard some really good things about it. Thanks a LOT for your time.
Mooguy Posted July 19, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted July 19, 2004 We went to Paradise Beach and thought it was really nice. Drinks were really GOOOOOd too. I am not a coffee drinker either but the ones at our table that are all were talking about how bad the coffee was. This is when our waiter got a little rude when one person asked him if he knew how old the coffee was he said he did not know since he did not serve it and walked away. DonnaD Posted July 19, 2004 #8 Share Posted July 19, 2004 We were on the July 5th cruise and you are so right. I never notice if coffee is bad, but sure did on this cruise. I thought maybe it was the cream. However, we had some unreal good talent on our cruise. Very professional sounding singers that wowed everyone. One man looked and sounded unbelieveably good. Even the cruise director was speachless.
kathygiraffe Posted July 20, 2004 #9 Share Posted July 20, 2004 Thanks for the review, DH and I will be on the 5 day on 8/16. Did you use room service at all and if so how was it? Also, how was the midnight buffet? Kathy
cantwait2cruise Posted July 20, 2004 #10 Share Posted July 20, 2004 Thanks for the review...we are also going on the 5 day in Aug. We noticed several rude crew members on our recent Imagination cruise...seems like a lot of the crew is grumpy... :(
iluvdoxies Posted July 20, 2004 #11 Share Posted July 20, 2004 I think the Sensation has been refurbished since we were last on her. Do they still have those awful "hand" seats in the piano bar> God, those were so uncomfortable.
Mooguy Posted July 20, 2004 Author #12 Share Posted July 20, 2004 We never did use room service on this cruise. Yes the Hand Seats in the Piano bar are still there. That bar really needs to be redone.
Cruzon Posted July 21, 2004 #13 Share Posted July 21, 2004 I was wondering if they have a passenger talent show on the 4-night Sensation cruises. My husband is an excellent singer, and loves to sing at the talent show. Does a band accompany people who want to sing?

dewhit6959 Posted July 21, 2004 #15 Share Posted July 21, 2004 The hands are still in the piano bar. I often reference them when my wife speaks of remodeling. On our 5 night western in April 2004, many of the dining room and lounges were Eastern Europeans who had bad day for a week. They weren't even happy doing the chuckee cheese dance routine around the dining room, but I can't hold that against them. Not all the Europeans were stiff, but enough were that plenty of good jokes were heard ! Hot tubs stayed full of kids, ten people reserved forty deck chairs around pool, but we still enjoyed ourselves. Our only complaint was the lack of a diaper change station near the adult pool. It didn't seem to bother the mom's and it didn't bother us since we couldn't get a chair anyway.
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted July 21, 2004 #16 Share Posted July 21, 2004 On the last night (Sunday night) of the 4-day Sensation cruise there is a guest talent show... and yes, the band is there - though many will sing along to recorded music... it seems just like Karaoke..!
