Dream Review 11/25 - 12/2 2006

Really a great trip..This was our second time on the Dream. We were on her last year with all her problems, and still had a good time...This year, everything was fine. We missed Playa due to something, not sure what, but it is only a drop off spot, so it didn't bother too many folks..

We were at the port about 11;30 a.m., and were aboard by 12;30. My brother has some problems walking, so a wheelchair was provided to assist him up the long walkway...very nice, and done with a smile. Our cabin was ready so we put our carry on bags down, and went to lunch in the Four Seasons, I do not like buffets. Lunch was a very nice affair, nothing fancy, but was very good. We returned to our cabin (there were 3 of us, in cabin 8243) and our bags were already delivered. We unpacked, and there was plenty of room for all our

clothes to be hung up, and bags stored under the bed. I slept on the love seat that opened out to a single bed. Had them put an egg crate mattress on, and it was very comfortable. Our room stewards were nice and the cabin was always clean, only problem was ICE... they would fill the bucket about 11;00 am, and not again until 6;30 pm..by the time we wanted it, it was all water, so we had to call for more...I spoke with the room steward, but to no avail.. it knocked $5.00 off his extra tip. Gave additional to room service which we used every morning for coffee, and

juice...

The ship is not one of the glitz and glamor ones,, she has a lot of old world charm even tho she is only about 10 years old, and the Christmas decoration that were up fit very well..and were not over done. You knew they were there, but they did not stick out. The ship was alway clean, and in good shape.

Our favorite bar was Lucky's where we met a young man by the name of Augustus Amponin, his wife is in the casino. He was very personable, and always remembered your name as well as your drink...

The casino crew was friendly and always smiling.....even when they took you money.......I know......the slots were paying steadly...nothing big, but often...2/300.00 at a time...I never saw over $500.00 paid out...but the 2/3 were quite often. I was told the Texas holden table was slow moving, but that is due to the players. They can slow a table down, and from what I watched, that was the problem...

We ate in Le Bistro once, and the other night in the Terraces, service was prompt and seating was not a problem. We even had a reservation for 18 on the last night, and were seated on time...They have done away with the wine stewards, (one of the little nice things) and wine is poured by the waiters..this is lacking, unless you have the Dinning Room Capt assisting.. we were lucky, he was around most every night, and our wine service was taken care of..The new menus are fine, there is a good selection of items to choose from, lamb, beef, fish etc..and lobster night was great.

Service thru out the entire ship fas fantastic, we were never really wanting for anything. Our Cruise Critic Meeting was held in the Le Bistro on Sunday at 11;00 a.m and Tina, the ship passenger coordinator, saw to that we had coffee, juice and cookies..very nice..There were about 7/8 of the ship officers at the meeting, including the Hotel Director, F& B Mgr, and the Cruise Director. The Capt didn't make it, but did make up for it later during the day...Thru the F&B Mgr (Vinay) arrangements were made to have two MARTINI CLINICS..something the Dream doesn't seem to have (maybe they will now)..Both were well attended, even the ships Capt was at the first one..

The crew was alway busy, and always smiling, and always spoke when passing.and those that assisted you more than once, remembered you name. What more can you ask....

We would love to do the Dream again, and just maybe, somehow we can.

If not we will have to make do with some of the larger ships, but will miss the closeness you get from the crew of the DREAM.

Till we sail again...jus' me....jim.....the Velvet Teddy Bear
