From a land down under Posted December 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2006 Reading threads it would appear that many cruiselines stay fairly late in some ports, even when they're scheduled to 'leave' at an earlier time. Cruisers enjoying restaurants and bars in port etc. We are doing the 11 night exotic southern carribean in a few weeks (life is hard...) and was wondering about this. Can anyone fill in? :)
gimmesun Posted December 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2006 We just got back from the 11 day exotic southern Caribbean (Spirit), and unfortunately, there were no late departures or overnights. The latest we left was at 6 pm.
aprildream Posted December 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2006 I can't think of any overnight on the carribean itineraries. The Baltic cruise has 2 overnights. One in Copenhagen and one in St.Petersburg. Just do a search on the NCL site for the carrribean and look at each itinerary.:)
bubiesmom Posted December 10, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2006 On the POH, when the ship is an overnight, is there a certain time when you have to be back on the ship by?
KeystoneCruiser Posted December 10, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 10, 2006 On the POH, when the ship is an overnight, is there a certain time when you have to be back on the ship by? Unlike the NCL International ships like the Wind and the Sun, the NCL America ships, (POH, POA and POAm) are US flagged ships and therefore can overnight in US ports. As a result, passengers can stay off the ship all night if they want. The also keep the Security and gangway open all night so you can come and go all you want in Maui and Kauai. If you were on the Wind or the Sun in Hawaii when they do the overnight at Lahania, you have to be back on board at a certain time and the ship will sail around the island overnight and re anchor the next morning. All part of the U.S. "Jones Act."
bubiesmom Posted December 10, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 10, 2006 Yeah! Thanks keystone. So if DH and I want to go ashore for some Hawaiian nightlife, we can and not have to worry.
Barb Nahoumi Posted December 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted December 10, 2006 Also, the Majesty overnights in St. George, Bermuda, from Tuesday through Friday mornings. The ship cruises from Boston to Bermuda, May through mid October.
