barbon2 Posted December 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2006 Hi, Anyone who has done Alaska recently, which side for Alaska would provide the better views? Did Alaska on the Amsterdam several years ago and cannot remember which side we were on. We are in the midst of booking the Noordam. Thanks, Barbara
esther e Posted December 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2006 Not sure what you mean. But if you're talking about watching the glaciers, no problem where you are. The ship will circle slowly and you'll see everything from everywhere. Enjoy!
hammybee Posted December 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 13, 2006 Assuming the cruise in RT, as the AMsterdam will be in 2007, it's your choice to see the shore coming or going and as ester said, there are no bads seats at the glaciers as the ship goes 360. kikiwik Posted December 13, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 13, 2006 when we went in september the ship had the best veiw from the starboard side of the ship when we were in glacier bay. We could not see it from the port side of our deck. so if you want to see it from your balcony book starboard side.
PRINSENDAM Posted December 13, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 13, 2006 when we went in september the ship had the best veiw from the starboard side of the ship when we were in glacier bay. We could not see it from the port side of our deck. so if you want to see it from your balcony book starboard side. The ships does make a circle around the bay so that both sides of the ship get get equal viewing time. But for which side is the best.... I would say Starboard side. On the northbound leg you will mostly get the morning sun on your balcony and on the homeward run you get the sun in the afternoon. Either port or starboard makes no real differeence of course, but if you have the preference as above, then starboard side. Best best... leave it up to HAL and take whatever is given.
