lovebug33 Posted December 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 13, 2006 If you are going to use your credit card in a foreign country, call them and let them know. I didn't think of this, but my mom told me. Well, I've had the same CC for 10 years. WHen I first had it, it got stolen and maxed out in Mexico. I have a flag on my account from then that if the card is used in Mexico, it will be automatically shut down! And, I'm going to Mexico. Good thing I figured this out before I left! Just some advice for everybody!
cuyahoga11 Posted December 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2006 I called my company before I went a couple weeks ago. They wanted the dates I was traveling, islands visiting, just a great safeguard.
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 13, 2006 Absolutely. Whenever you travel you should let your credit card company(s) know the dates of the travels and the places to be visited. Keith
lagrutke Posted December 13, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 13, 2006 I went to Mexico a few years ago and used my credit card on the first day. When I tried to use it again that evening, it was denied. I called the credit card company immediately and they said that they had left a message on my home phone about it. I was in Cancun! I was able to straighten everything out and was able to continue using it. Now whenever I travel out of the country, even to Europe, I call them and let them know.
