San Juan Late Flight

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I just (finally) saw the excursions that are available for our AOS sailing in April 2007. We have a late flight, after 5pm. I was hoping to take the El Yunke Rain Forest tour for that day. I see that it's not available now :( .

Any suggestions as to what we can do for the day, store our luggage etc. I don't want to go to the beach, then we will have to shower and change for our flight.

Help!

there is a store in old SJ that will do it. it is on the shopping map, and it does mention this service. can't remember the name or how much. that way you could walk around OSJ, eat, shop whatever. i know someone else has asked that question recently. hmm.....wish i was home...i could actually look.

I also remember someone talking about that place too. It start with a "B" I believe. I'm hoping someone will remember and post the info. Thanks!

I've been looking into this myself as we will be there the end of Jan. There are two places you can store luggage, one is a restaraunt named Barrachina www.barrachina.com They are the inventors of the Pina Colada so I have been told if I stop there I have to try one. The other place is called AudioGuia and here is their website http://www.audioguiapr.com/default.aspx

They do have the valet luggage if you use certain airlines. We used it last week on our cruise and all I had to carry around was my purse. Although my daughter had her laptop and she complained the whole time we toured San Juan how heavy it was.

I wonder if the Marriott that we are staying at the day before our cruise will allow us to use their facilities for the last day of our cruise. I think I'll contact them prior to the cruise to inquire.

We are staying at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. Has anyone ever done that?

We have stayed at the Marriott, but not recently. They, at that time, didn't let us go back and give the luggage to the bellhop and enjoy their facilities. They are there for their guests, (staying there then) as we were told.

When we have gotten off the ship, there are a ton of taxi/van people offering tours of the city. They take your luggage, tour around, including time for shopping and going to the forts, then to a restaurant, usually Lupe's, a fun place for lunch. Then after that the tour kind of winds down and goes to the airport. It was much cheaper than the cruiseline tours.

There are also tours that will take you other places, ie Bacardi rum tour, but those were usually with smaller groups. Perhaps, when staying at the Marriott, you could arrange a tour for the day of debarkation. I personally wouldn't be too worried, I'd just find someone and see what's offered. The worst scenario is that you don't like anything and get to the airport and try to get an earlier flight home.

Enjoy your cruise, it will be great!!!

We just came off the Serenade on Dec 9 and had a 7pm flight from San Juan. We flew American Airlines and for $10 each person, they took care of our luggage from the ships terminal to the airport. We then were free of all baggage. I was told that Barancucios (like 1 street up from the wharf) will hold your luggage for the day. There is also a Sheraton across the street from the pier - you could maybe call them and see if they do anything. There were several other airlines that had this feature - check with them. It also gets you boarding passes and you will not need to check in at the airport other than going through the xray machines.

Thanks for the suggestions Katie & Jpanda,

I will look into the Hilton Caribe also, someone said they have a day rooms to can rent. Or just try out the Barrachina too. I just have to find out if I have make any kind of reservation there.

My ex-husband is from PR and we took vacations every year there, . I've pretty much seen and done everything on the island. My daughter hadn't seen the rain forest and was hoping to take her there. Oh well. She will be happy shopping or hanging by a pool or beach.

Thanks again and happy holidays!
