Alaska Cruise - pools

I know this is going to be a silly question but here goes...

 

are the pools heated? :o

 

I'm planning on an Alaskan Cruise this summer.

... but on our June 02 cruise the aft (outdoor) pool was not heated enough for most people. We never saw anyone in it. Maybe that was because of the air temp and wind more than the water temp though.

On our Alaskan cruises, people used only the covered pool.

Actually, on our cruise we did see people using the uncovered aft pool when we were leaving Tracy Arm. I dipped my foot in it and while it was personally too cold for me, I'm sure there's some who will enjoy it. I'm sure it's very refreshing.

 

I stuck to the hot tubs, though!

We have cruised on two different HAL ships to Alaska, the Oosterdam in '06, and the Zaandam in '05.

 

On the Zaandam, on the big information board that shows the current ship location and gives current weather information, it also showed the temperatures of both the covered lido pool and the aft pool.

 

I don't recall this infomation being reported on the Oosterdam.

 

The temperature of the aft pool, throughout the cruise, was consistently warmer than the covered lido pool, and ran in the high 80s.

I used the pool a coupla times. Also used the hot tubs! :rolleyes:

It was 90 +/- in Alaska the last time we were there at the end of June. Like weather anywhere, you just never know.
