Cristobal Private Cab Tours

We will be spending 8 hours, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Feb. 10, 2007 with the MSC Opera in Cristobal. The ships tours are uninteresting and rather pricey, and Mario's tours, just as pricey, may not get us back in time.

 

Are we allowed to exit the pier, not to wander around on foot, as I understand that is not very smart to do, but to hire a cab for private tours?

 

Has anyone done this and offer some advice? What can we do on our own?
