Docked at Crown Bay on the Caribbean Princess

:) We just got back from our cruise on the Caribbean Princess and had a very pleasant experience in St Thomas. We were somewhat concerned that we would be docked in the new port of Crown Bay. We were very happy to find out that the Crown Bay Marina was just a few steps away from the pier and we were able to catch a ferry over to Water Island. After reading posts on this thread, we got some very much appreciated information from a local that led us to an outstanding beach, where we spent the day. (Honeymoon Beach) For much of the morning, we shared the beautiful pristine beach with 2 other couples. What a treat! We took our snorkeling gear and just enjoyed the peace and quiet of this very tranquil beach, and met some wonderful locals of the island. Can't wait to go back!

cruzzers, just for clarification for next time, can you please tell me exactly where you caught the ferry to Water Island? We were in St Tom earlier this month on the Sun Princess at Crown Bay and walked thru the Marina, so will pretty much know of specific areas you might mention. How much did the ferry cost and was it easy to get the same ferry back to the Marina when you returned? Thanks!

P.S. The Marina grocery was a great place to purchase sodas for the cabin - a six pack of Diet Coke or whatever your choice for $2.99.

Gonna go cruising - Its about a 25-30 minute drive from Crown Bay to Coki. For transportation options on St. Thomas you can visit http://www.*****/stthomas/getting_around_stt/.

GloriaF - there is only one ferry that goes to Water Island, it has a regular schedule. If you remember the grocery store at the marina which is at one corner, if you walked along side it toward Tickles Restaurant you'd reach another corner and would turn a short left to continue along the dock. The Water Island ferry pulls right in front of Tickles just at the corner. If they weren't there you could ask the bartender or wait staff at Tickles and they could point you to the spot. You can find the ferry schedule and rates at http://www.*****/waterisland/gettingthere_wi/.
