Rare Cruise Raider Posted December 24, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 24, 2006 We booked a room close to the pier, not expensive, and it was touted to have 3 stars? In who's book, we wondered?? We arrived just before midnight and couldn't wait to flee the worst hotel ever visited...as did others in the lobby in the early morning. It was only a $5 cab ride to the pier, so thought it might be nicer to actually wait in the room for boarding than in this hotel. Be very careful of these hotels close to the pier. You'd be better off staying a little further away and taking a cab to this area. We did hear the holiday inn wasn't too bad....probably why it is sold out. The Analyst Posted December 27, 2006 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2006 The Holiday Inn is about as close to the Port of Miami as you can get. I haven't stayed there before, but I drove by it a few weeks ago and it looks fairly new, so it's probably descent. I stayed in Coconut Grove at the Mayfair. It was really nice and the cab ride to the port cost about $25, but the hotel was a bit pricey.
BlueHerons Posted December 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2006 Looking for an inexpensive hotel as close as possible to Port of Miami.Anyone ever hear of the Continental Downtown Bayside?Only 2 stars but great location.Holiday Inn sold out and others really expensive. Why do you need to stay as close as possible to the Port of Miami? What are your dates. The above two questions have a lot to do with price. RoyalTraveler Posted December 28, 2006 #5 Share Posted December 28, 2006 I am also looking for inexpensive accomodations for precruise night of 2/24/2007. Any advice?
j&ps Posted December 30, 2006 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2006 We're staying at the Days Inn Miami Int'l. Airport, 7250 NW 11th St. & 72 Ave. Phone 305-261-4230. We chose them on another posters recommendation. They shuttle from airport to motel, and motel to ship. There's a liquor store 2 or 3 blocks away, a restaurant on site and others a mile away. We're paying a sr. rate which includes tax of $94.88 for king non-smoking. It's not near Bayside or the port but we're getting in late in the day and will be pooped so won't want to do much except eat and rest. Plus, we'll save lots of taxi fare that we can spend during the cruise!!!
