Sandi149 Posted December 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted December 25, 2006 I've noticed after reading a lot about the locals from Puerto Rico getting a really big discounted rate on the Destiny. Now I am just wondering, since I am from NY, howcome I am not getting a discount on my Miracle cruise that sails out of NY next year? Just to let you know that I have no problem paying the price that I got. I'm just curious, that's all. Thanks. :)
Cruzman Posted December 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted December 25, 2006 The reason is kinda simple. Supply and demand! People in the northeast are used to paying inflated prices for everything, so they are quite willing (or so it seems) to pay inflated prices for cruises. Cruise lines charge whatever price the market will bear, and as long as they can fill their ships at the higher prices, they will do so! This is not the case elsewhere, such as in Puerto Rico where cruise lines must sometimes reduce rates to the bone in order to fill the ship. Sandi149 Posted December 25, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted December 25, 2006 You are right about that when you say that people in the Northeast are used to paying inflated prices.
