Free shore excursions Anyone get offered one

Recommended Posts

My TA's agency belongs to an organization Giantstravel that runs escorted tours and shore excursions and allows member travel agencies to offer free shore excursions through an organization called Select Traveler to their customers. We are being offered one in Qeubec called "The Delights of Quebec" that includes a drive to Cap Diamant. Then to Dufferin Terrace and the Chateau Frontenac and then to Manoir Montmorency followed by a gondola ride for a view of Montmorency Falls. Then a visit to Sugar Shack on the Island of Orleans. It is a 5 hour tour and looks like it is similar to one of the tours that HAL is offering for around $60 a person.

I'm interested if anyone else has had any experience with these people and if they do what they say they are going to do. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks and have a GREAT next cruise.

The tour sounds good BUT it doesn't include much of the old city, which is very very walkable and there are horse and buggy rides. The Chateau albeit impressive is a hotel and the Terrace runs between it and the fortress along bluffs overlooking the river. Montmorency Falls is nice.. but does it go to St Anne. The island (Ile Orlean) sugar shack should be fun.. we went to one last winter when a friend and I headed from NC to Quebec City for the Carnaval... five lovely days with nary a temperature over zero and snow covering park benches, ramparts of fortress etc..lovely lovely.. anyway.. sugar shack on island was under a snowdrift but oh, my the food was awesome. I cook Quebecois at home a lot and sugar shacks are very authentic (although obviously no sugar running and snow in summer. This sounds like a nice tour but a lot of "viewing" and not much "doing".. is that what you want> you do not need a tour to explore upper and lower town of old quebec at all.
