Elation

I'm going on elation here in a couple of weeks and I had a couple of questions. I've heard it's really hard to find the different bars and eating areas on the ship. Is that true? Are there any maps or anything that direct you to the right place? Does it tell you what floors everything is on?

Also, in nassau, does anyone know how far away senor frogs is from the port and the best way to get there?

Is there anyway to remove the automatic gratuity charge on your credit card and do the cash thing the last night like on RCCL?

Any other comments about the ship are appreciated!

Getting to the different bars is no problem. The dining rooms are a little tricky but the elevator has what is on the floors so you wont have any problems finding anything. The elation is a beautiful ship and has has a makeover even since I cruised it this past april. I know after it left Galveston on its way to Miami it got some knew carpet and had mini golf added. I loved my Elation cruise and I know you will too.

The bars are very easy to get to. They are all pretty close to each other. The dining rooms might be a bit trickier though, but once you go the first night or so, you should remember. The 2 main dining rooms, Imagination and Inspiration are not close together. Imagination is easier to get to. Tiffany's, the buffet, is on the Lido at the back of the ship.

If you have trouble, pick up a map at the purser's desk if there isn't one in your room.

Not sure about Senor Frog's. I went to Atlantis when I went to Nassau. But from what I heard from other's who went there, they said it was about a 10-12 minute walk from the pier.

Sorry, I don't know about the tips.

we'll be on ELATION in a couple of weeks too. been on many of her sister ships and have never found them difficult to navigate (really no dead ends, like Triumph class, except by dining).

you can a deck plan from the Purser's desk, but you probably won't even need it.

as far as the dining rooms, i have noticed w/ us at least, that they tend to assign us to the dining room closest to our cabin (i.e. if we have an aft cabin, we'll have the aft dining room). don't know if this is deliberate, coincidence or what, but it does make things easier when your rushing from your cabin to dinner after showering and changing (as we always are b/c we find it hard to leave LIDO in time:D )

Senor Frogs is w/in walking distance from the pier. you can see the ship right in front of you when you are sitting outside. Pirate Museum, straw market and shopping are right there too, just a couple of bloks away, but certainly w/in walking distance.

you can do the cash thing for gratuities. i've never done it since they instituted the automatic debit b/c i love the convenience of not carrying a million envelopes, and worrying about all that extra cash. now, i just bring a little extra to tip above and beyond when appropriate, and $ we'll need for ports. but it has (and can be done).

I am traveling on the Elation at the end of this month and I have a question. We arrive back into Port Canaveral at 7 am. Now I am going to be renting a car from there and I would like to know if anyone would have any idea what time I should get it for? I have it tentavly set to pick up at 10 am but should I make that sooner? Thanks for any help at all!

debarkation is always a gamble. it only takes one passenger to mess things up clearing customs. most of the time, things go smoothly, and if you are getting off right after breakfast even without your luggage (no self assist), you could be off as early as 8:30. you never know.

We cruised on the Elation three weeks ago, and miss it already!

My advice is to take the mid-ship elevators as often as possible. They let out on every floor, and then most places are accessible (or at least, walkable without having to go up and down at other spots!). The exception to this is the Inspiration Dining Room, which I believe is only accessible by a few aft elevators. You'll learn quickly which elevators offer the most convenient access for wherever you are going - aft elevators for Tiffany's, and mid-aft for the casino, etc.

Finding bars, lounges, etc was fairly easy - most are on the Promenade deck, within easy walking distance of the mid-ship and atrium elevators. Duke's, the piano bar, is on 8, just outside of Imagination Dining, and is a fun spot for a little music and cocktails.

An the purser's desk has a small booklet with all the deck plans for you, just grab one when you board. :)

Senor Frog's is very near the port, you'll see it as you dock!

Lastly, regarding the tips - please do leave them "automatic", and tip more in cash as desired. If tips are removed, the staff member will be called to answer for it! You certainly can remove them (via the purser's desk) if necessary.

ENJOY your cruise, can't wait to hear all about it!

They will not question it if the tips are removed as soon as you board.

Obviously if you wail until after your service ( a day or 2) yes they will be questioned. Not a problem if you would like to pay cash. :)

We just returned from the elation and loved it so much we booked a cruise for March on her sister ship Imagination.

We found the easiest way to get to the Inspiration Dining room which is the one we were assigned to (and the furthest one away from our cabin) was to go to Deck 9 and walk all the way over and then come back down a level to Deck 8. You can't walk all the way thru on Deck 8 because the galley is between the two dining rooms
