beachbuddy Posted April 19, 2007 #26 Share Posted April 19, 2007 Yes that is true , you must provide the required documentation to get the OBC. But I also have wondered, if you buy the shares today, send your proxy in to get the credit applied to your future, then sell your stocks, Who would know it? I think this could happen, just as well as the people who get the max on their visa cards in cash at the casion, on the ship, then come home with that cash and pay off their visa, and Bang, they earned points and bought NOTHING! JMHO Hey, I never thought of that.......LOL I never really used my charge to get cash.....do they charge you a cash advance fee if you do that? pmshirl Posted April 20, 2007 #27 Share Posted April 20, 2007 Beachbuddy: I have never used my BOA for cash at any time. I have read of people using it in the casino on the ship for cash, like I mentioned above. I do not know if there is any type of fee involved if you use it that way. Maybe someone else who has earned the dbl points for cash in the casino can tell you.
HappyFamilyNJ Posted April 20, 2007 #28 Share Posted April 20, 2007 You can definitely get the OBC if you buy the stock after your booking. Here's what I do... 1)book the cruise 2)watch the stock, buy on a down swing 3)keep stock over a month end so I get a statement showing that I own 100 shares 4)sell on an upswing Use that one month end statement, send it in with your booking #, and you'll be fine. Just call later to make sure they've applied it properly, I've never had a problem. Yes, I know there's a risk that I'll lose on the stock doing it this way.... but so far (I trade in an IRA account so no immediate tax ramifications) I've always managed to make at least a few bucks between the purchase and sale. I guess it just amazes me as to some of the things people do. For one thing I wouldn't want to walk around with all that cash on me and I certainly wouldn't want to take that cash into the casino!
