GuitarPlayer Posted January 11, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2007 Can anyone comment on this hotel. I am thinking of making a reservation. Travelers comments on Expedia are mostly positive and at $119 the price is right! A group of 13 of us stayed in this hotel after having our departure port moved from FLL to MIA due to hurricane Wilma in Oct 2005. It wasn't exceedingly special, but definitely not a dump, either. Of course, having been in FLL for two days w/o water or electricity made anything with a hot shower look GREAT! I was planning on staying there again when we go to MIA for our March cruise, but decided on the Holiday Inn Bayside instead - yeah, I know, it's the "touristy" area, but with 5 daughters, I figured we could find something that everyone liked there. There are a couple of restaurants w/in walking distance. We went into the hotel restaurant to look at the breakfast buffet and quickly left. To their benefit, we did show up with about 30 minutes left on the buffet, and there was very little food (none of which was very appetizing) available. I think it was $4 pp for shuttle to the port. They had a public Internet terminal that was a pay-for-use. I never checked to see pricing on it. There was an outdoor pool that looked acceptable, but wasn't warm enough, nor enough time, to go try it while we were there overnight. We felt safe enough there, although I don't think I would venture out after dark, but that can be said for most large cities. GP
