lorilea Posted January 14, 2007 #26 Share Posted January 14, 2007 Sorry if you misunderstood me Rose. I did see your earlier post and wrote it down for future reference. I was wondering about the menu themes not the attire. Thanks for all the great info. Have you posted a review? I would love to read it if you have. Thanks again, Lori
beebes Posted January 14, 2007 #27 Share Posted January 14, 2007 We are on the 8 night cruise and also wish to book Chops for the Caribbean night. Can someone who has been on the 8 night cruise tell me what night Caribbean is, so that I might book right away when we get on.
Lowcountrygal Posted January 14, 2007 #28 Share Posted January 14, 2007 Sorry if you misunderstood me Rose. I did see your earlier post and wrote it down for future reference. I was wondering about the menu themes not the attire. Thanks for all the great info. Have you posted a review? I would love to read it if you have. Thanks again, Lori Oops! Now, I understand! Sorry, can't help you too much with that question. We dined in the main dining room for the first two nights and no one else showed up at our very large table. We went to Portofino's & Windjammer for the remainder of the cruise! Here's a link to some photos from the Western Caribbean, aboard my recent Radiance cruise (including photos of prepared entrees from Portofino) and from the Mariner: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40631118@N00/ No, I did not post a review. I probably should do that since it was our first time aboard a Radiance class ship. My general review is that this ship is elegant, intimate, and quite sophisticated and more suitable for couples and couples with younger children. I found it lacking in activity suitable for my 14 y/o son and he was a bit disappointed when he compared the Teen offerings to that of the Mariner of the Seas. The arcade is tiny, the teen area is very small and lacks that "Wow" factor and there weren't as many teens aboard as there were younger children. The Schooner Lounge / Colony Club / Starquest / Solarium areas are all breathtakingly beautiful as is all the glass with sea views from most common areas. The self-leveling pool tables aboard the Radiance were impressive, the shops were not. I so enjoyed the Sea View Cafe and the ease & intimacy of the Windjammer. The Windjammer on the Mariner is very crowded always! The Radiance offers more al fresco dining, which we enjoyed too. I didn't feel a "wow" when I saw the Centrum like I did when I saw the Promenade aboard the Mariner. I found myself missing the Promenade and the roomy space of a larger ship. The cabins and balcony are smaller in size too when compared to the Mariner. I know that both of these ships are apples & oranges, but I couldn't help but compare & contrast them. I couldn't honestly recommend the Radiance for a teen passenger unless they were bringing a friend. Take care, Rose

Maplemoose Posted January 15, 2007 Author #30 Share Posted January 15, 2007 Rose, I was under the impression that the hours would be the same each day for the Windjammer, SeaView etc. and that was what I was wondering about, especially the Windjammer. Another question just popped into my mind. Is there any food in the Casino? Hi, Lorilea. Glad you enjoy Halifax. Have you stopped here on a cruise? We are a port of call for many cruises in the summer and fall, including the Queen Mary, but unfortunately we are not at the beginning or end for any of them! Sue L Posted January 15, 2007 #31 Share Posted January 15, 2007 I really enjoyed the lemon & sugar crepe that is made on the spot for you in the Solarium cafe! What a light & wonderful treat at the end of the evening! You can also have crepes with other fruits / flavors added. Such an elegant touch to offer crepes! :p What kind of crepes do they have? Are they dessert type crepes or more main entree type crepes? I love crepes and I can't wait.

Another question just popped into my mind. Is there any food in the Casino? The hours vary a little with Solarium, Sea View as it depends on the port of call. Windjammer hours, these are pretty consistent: Breakfast: 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM Lunch: 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM Dinner: 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM Sea View: give or take 30 min. on various days: 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM 9:00 PM to 1:30 AM There is a "Midnight Delights" in several areas to include the Casino, Colony Club, and Schooner Bar on a few nights late at night: 11:30 PM to 12:30 AM. One night there is a late night snack at the Pool (weather permitting) and then one night is the Gala Buffet. Rose
