Ine - Amsterdam question

Can you tell us what type of weather we should expect in Amsterdam around the middle of April? Will it be very cold? Trying to get some idea of how we should pack for that area. We are also going to be in Brugge. Should it be about the same type of weather? Don't want to pack heavy jackets if they will not be necessary.

Thank you. We always appreciate the information you are so willing to supply.

Be prepared to dress in layers, as it can be rather cool, maybe even rainy.

A windbreaker with sweater etc.then you will be fine.

On this link of http://www.weather.com you will find statistics about out region.

Maybe you are lucky and have one of those seldom warmer and sunny days....

If you consider the 9 hr. time difference, you can have a look at the webcam that looks at the back of Central Station in Amsterdam.

The highrise building in the center-back is the cruise-terminal. However the streets in between curve, so it looks closer then it is.

Besides, it also give the actual weatherreport.

As someone who was there in mid-to-late April last year, the weather (like in much of the US) can be variable. For us, it was quite cold -- highs in the high 40s/low 50s with clouds (no warmth from the sun). I wore jeans along with a long-sleeved shirt, sweater or sweatshirt and a medium-weight jacket almost every day and was ok. Those who only took a light windbreaker were cold. That said, unless you are very cold sensitive, you shouldn't need a heavy jacket if you wear something warm underneath it.

For accessories, I also recommend comfortable all-weather shoes and wool socks in addition to athletic shoes. I didn't need a hat or scarf, but some used them. DO take lightweight gloves.

Obviously, you could get nicer weather than we had but I wouldn't count on it. Layers are essential. You can always leave items on the bus if you're too hot. Take an umbrella too.
