Cinderellie Posted July 25, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2004 Hello, all. Our kids will be in town after our 8/29 Conquest cruise. We'll have the Sunday 9/5 to have fun in New Orleans. (I know, I know, Southern Decadence is in town! We will try to steer clear!) Which restaurants do you think the kids will enjoy? We love taking them to places that have the whole EXPERIENCE built in! Fun places that don't serve food that is too spicy! But have something interactive. Any ideas? We have tried: Commander's Palace (too ritzy -- went for a corporate function) Emeril's -- one of his restaurants Cafe DuMonde for bienets -- they LOVED it I have also heard from locals that Camilla Grille would be a best bet. Your suggestions??? Thanks!!!

Cinderelli Posted July 26, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2004 We're staying at the Renaissance Arts Hotel. We'd like lunch AND dinner recommendations. Thanks!:o
jgmpuma Posted July 26, 2004 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2004 These are two family-friendly places within pretty easy walking distance of the hotel: The Praline Connection (907 South Peters, 504-523-3973) has a Gospel Brunch on Sunday. Very good local soul food. Mulate's (201 Julia Street, 504-522-1492) has pretty good food and music. Both are reasonably priced.
wwinfl91 Posted July 26, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 26, 2004 We ate at a sea food restaurant that the desk personnel at our hotel recommended and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It was in the French Quarter and wasn't as expensive as some of the others we have tried in New Orleans in the past. The food was good and plentiful. As I remember they also had a "kids" menu although we didn't use it. Here is the information on the restaurant from another web site. Ralph & Kacoo's Seafood Restaurant 519 Toulouse Street • New Orleans, LA 70116 504-522-5226 Spacious restaurant offering a large menu of seafood items. And here is their web site. http://www.ralphandkacoos.com/ Have a great time in the Big Easy.
Cotton Posted July 27, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Hi Cindi......There are a lot of family-friendly restaurants in N.O. (I'm a native.) I always suggest Gumbo Shop on St. Peters (just to the left of St. Louis Cathedral at Jackson Square). Great atmosphere - lunch or dinner, prices are moderate, and there'll be a good mix of locals and tourists. Try to be seated in the courtyard! There are so many fabulous places to dine, I'll just give you a website and you can go browse!:) Go here, then click on 'cuisine': http://www.neworleansonline.com
lisajoy Posted August 23, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2004 If you are looking for something fun for the kids then Bubba Gump Shrimp or Margaritaville in the french quarter are very fun places. My dh and I loved going to both places and the food was great at both.
