mommybunny21 Posted January 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2007 I have been sick with the flu for 5 days trying to plan excursions for Noordams 2/17 cruise..I only have Domenica booked. My original plan was to book a luxury hotel at each port for a day BUT they are all booked up. I'm looking for things a 6 yr old can do-really fun or really luxurious-I don't care what it costs..thanks for helping a sick desperate cruiser to be.. PaganView Posted January 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2007 You may want to change the title of your thread to Southern Caribbean cruisers as the Maasdam and maybe the Veendam have done that itinerary recently as well. I'm not sure the Noordam always goes that far south. Good luck!
AlohaPride Posted January 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2007 I would definately suggest Coral World in St. Thomas. It would be fun for your 6 year old!

Sunshine91 Posted January 19, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2007 Try posting your question on the board for each island you'll visit on your cruise. Just an FYI - your first port call is Tortola & you don't dock until 3pm. It's likely not worth your time & effort to find a "luxury hotel" on that island. The short walk into Roadtown is easily doable with a 6-year old. When we were there last week we were docked next to Zuiderdam - a 6-year old might have been thrilled at the sight of 2 huge (to him) ships next to each other (we were impressed at the canyon it created on the pier). There are chickens running around in the little market area. You can hire a taxi (safari-style bus or mini-van) for $12/pp to take you on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride up & over the island to Cane Garden Bay (it's beautiful at sunset) where there are facilities, but certainly not luxury. All aboard is 8:30. Your last port call is San Juan, Puerto Rico. You dock at 7am but have to clear immigration, which can take an hour or so. All aboard is 12:30. If you are there on a Sunday, many shops won't open until the afternoon until after church services, so there's not a whole lot to do & see there during that short visit (I stayed onboard, but John went ashore). There's another ship or 2 in port for their turn-around day, so the pier is busy. However, the sailaway is spectacular leaving San Juan harbor. You can see the Coast Guard base, the old walled city & the El Morro fort on the promontory at the very entrance to the harbor. You might even have a CG escort out of the harbor, very exciting to a child. Good luck with your excursions & have a great cruise. We sure did. :)
