Is St. Lucia a good place to rent a car in order to maintain a bit of flexibility and freedom, yet see the things we want to see?

 

Has anyone done this before? Was it worhtwhile? Scary? Costs?

 

It seems like there is so much to see that maybe us planning our own tour would be fun. Would love to hear from those who have been...
