Has anyone noticed that there are only 3 excursions offered in Mo Bay? Should I be worried about taking my family there?

I noticed that also. We don't sail until October but I remember when we said the Conquest last time we booked ours months before and it showed all of them. I am guessing that maybe they are updating them with prices and so forth. I know if I just go in and look without putting in my reservation number they all show but when I go in under my sailing mobay is the only one that only shows 2 or 3 while the other ports all show up.

Hello everyone,

Going on our 2nd cruise on Conquest in March of '09. First was with Royal Carib. back in '06. This is our first time cruising w/ kids: DD who will be 9 by then and DS who will be 6.

We decided to book 2 interior 4d rooms numbers 6297 and 6295 on the UPPER DECK.

We did it to give us extra room to spread out and that we dont have to sit in the pitch black when the kids go to bed.

My only concern is that these rooms are right above the casino. I like being "sandwiched" between 2 passenger decks, but the Conquest layout makes that tough.

I have plenty of time to change back to a single room if I need to as of now so any input would be greatly appreciated!

I have tons of Camp Carnival and dining questions to come, but for now, I'd like to get this room thing settled.

Can you hear casino noise into the late evenings?

About Mo Bay, go to the threads under Jamaica and read about Sunset Beach. We have been there several times and it is especially wonderful (and safe) if you are traveling with kids.

Never stayed on upper deck, but I can put in my two cents worth about kids club and about dining. We're looking forward to our 4th cruise on Conquest in March.

Checking for room number GTY From R&S (Ron and Sue)

The easiest way is to log into the Carnival website and click on modify booking (only for booking with PVP/Carnival only).

If the modify option doesn't work, here is another method. (It's a bit detailed, but it will work)

1. On the Carnival homepage click 'My Reservation' located on the top of the page.

2. Use the 'Member log-in' to the right of the page to log-in to your account. This will take you to your reservation.

3. On the 'My Reservation' page first write down your booking number then click on the 'FunPass - Complete Online' located to the right of the Itinerary (This will take you to the FunPass check in area) Note: Sometimes you will get an error message and you will need to go back to the My Reservation page and click the 'FunPass-Complete Online' a second time. Then it will work.

4. On the 'FunPass Quick Check in' page you may be required to provide your booking number. You should have it from the My Reservation page.

5. You should now see a list of guests traveling and be able to complete a FunPass for each person.

6. Under the list of guests you will see 4 options

Book Shore Excursions Now---------Order Gifts & Services

Carnival Sea Miles MasterCard-----Join Presidential Wine Club

7. Click on 'Order Gifts and Services'

8. Select 'Details' of any gift. At the bottom of the page will be your booking number and stateroom number.

Your room number will show up as GUAR until it has been assigned.

The casino isn't very loud, in my experience, especially at night when you'll be sleeping or relaxing in your cabin. Either way, I'd definitely be OK with being in a 4D above there. Frankly, it died down a lot earlier than I expected; there was usually only one roulette table open after 12A, which makes for a crowded table if several people want to play.

Camp Carnival is AWESOME. I realize you didn't ask any questions about it, but here's our experience: they are open from morning (times vary, as I recall) to ~2P, and then open for about 3 hours after that until about 5:30P when they get ready for dinner. Kids dinner seating starts at 6:45P they take the kids from there back to Camp Carnival (deck 12, forward).

Services are free until 10P, and then babysitting is available from 10P to 3A for $6/hour for the first child, and $4/hour for each additional child family member who stays. If your child is under 9 years old, they will give you a pager automatically so you can be reached anywhere on the ship. Your child can request that you be paged for any reason (to leave, just to chat, medical, etc). In our experience, our (then) 7 year old son paged us just once for something other than to leave, just to make sure it worked. Every other time, we either picked him up before "closing time," or he paged to depart. I highly recommend the pager! If your child has asthma, you can leave an inhaler, but they recommended against leaving any other medications. Also, if your child is 9+, they can sign themselves in and out of Camp Carnival.

They run activities, movies, have a sleeping area, crafts and so forth. There is a kids pool right near CC, but they don't take the kids to it, at least when we sailed. The kids dinner seating is great if your child doesn't want to go to the formal dinner in the dining room, and our having the late seating (8P) worked great. We'd drop our son off, have an hour to get ready for dinner, eat, then go see a show or gamble or just prowl the ship until he was ready to leave. (BTW: 24 hour room service is also great, since he could get a snack after leaving CC)

Camp Carnival is a little hard to get to. There is no direct elevator access to deck 12 forward from the main elevators. Go to the forward elevators (decks 1, 2, and 5 fully enclosed and allow you to go aft to forward with no obstructions) and take them to deck 11. Once you get off the elevators on 11, either take the forward stairs up to 12, or use the small elevator to your left. Camp Carnival is at the end of the only hallway on deck. (Conveniently located restrooms!) We kept forgetting that CC is all the way forward, so we'd wind up only being able to go to deck 10, then going outside (windy!) to cross over to the inside elevators.

(Oh, and before I'm raked over the coals for picking our kid up at 2-3A, I should mention that we're all three night owls, and he's home-schooled anyway, so the scheduling is a lot looser than most people's)

Thanks for all the information regarding boarding. I have been reading that the causeway is under construction on some Sunday's and I didn't want to to be stressed if I got stuck in traffic.

We will hang out if we get there early, park about 11:20 (EZ park) and then attempt to board.

Only 5 more days!!! :D

We plan on sailing the Conquest in May of this year and have decided against any of the Aft cabins due to the heat and lack of breeze. I get hot pretty easily, and wouldn't mind so much if it was March/April or in the Fall, but May is pushing it. We've sailed on the Conquest before, and it seems like the Port side gets more action. Docking in Galveston is Starboard, but who cares about that stinkhole?

Just as an FYI, We have sailed Conquest twice. We have boarded in Galveston with the port side facing the pier as you can see in this picture from our aft balcony.

2638207300080888825S500x500Q85.jpg

We have docked in MoBay once in each direction and we have docked in Cozumel on either side of the pier meaning that a port side cabin had a view of another ship across the pier.

I would not suggest picking a ship side based on the ports because it's a crap shoot. I'd suggest picking starboard if you want more sun on sea days and port if you prefer shade.

Well I do and a lot of other people as well. Nice way to start off on C-C by insulting a lot of people.

I am sorry that I offended you and anyone else on the Board. My post was meant to be more lighthearted rather than matter-of-fact. As compared with other ports of call on the Conquest, Galveston wouldn't be my first choice, but if others feel differently so be it. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I'm sorry if mine offended you.

I didn't see an edit feature - probably missed it - otherwise I would have removed this comment.

Welcome to Cruise Critic. Thanks for your comments. I recommend you use the smilies if you wish to show your 'lighthearted' feelings, it sure read matter-of-fact.

There are a lot of nice people who consider Galveston their 'home port' that can be a source of very good information on these boards about sailings from Texas.

If you have time to explore Galveston, I recommend that as well. Start here: http://www.galveston.com/visitorinformation/

Thanks for the link and the welcome. Last thing I want to do is come on the Board and start insulting people or their favorite places. :o <-- Not sure if this is the "embarassed" smilie or not, but that's the intent. The other Boards I frequent use a different smilie system, but I'll be sure to include these to avoid confusion.

Is there a way to edit your post once it's made? I'm still trying to figure out how to remove the first comment.

I've sailed out of Galveston and been to Mardi Gras there before, and it definitely has its charm. On our first cruise we were just anxious to get going! :D

EDIT: An "Edit" feature just appeared for this post. Still nothing for the above?

I have been reading this thread for months now and I started over last night to refresh because we leave this weekend on the Conquest. I went over my list and think I checked it twice:rolleyes: . Last time I missed Sur Mer, gonna be sure to do that. Never went into the spa........definately going there this go around. I hear there is mini golf now as well. Anything anyone can think of that is commonly missed? Last time I was so overwhelmed with being there we missed probobly 30% of the ship. We are not into the shows, except the Newleywed game. Whoo hoo 6 days!:D

The deck plans indicate that you're above Montmartre, the arcade; and the O2 club. I doubt you'll have much noise in the late evening! I enjoyed my stay on the Empress deck, cabin 7343. Perhaps you can change your booking to inside cabins on that deck to minimize noise as it's between pax decks.

We had those same rooms over Labor Day and loved it. The only time we heard something was when the color teams were going up and down Promenade deck singing drinking songs. It was only one night and from 10-midnight. (At least according to my wife, I was singing with Red Team.)

Also, very little hall traffic. That hall is well off the beaten path.

Now I'm having a hard time convincing my wife to get a balcony.

I have tons of Camp Carnival and dining questions to come, but for now, I'd like to get this room thing settled.

Here's a link to our the Camp Carnival's Capers. I included allot of the rules and guidelines that came separate from the capers.

OK, I tried to scan the thread, but I went cross eyed. We leave in March, and it has been almost 2 years since we cruised out of Galveston. In theory, we might be able to board earlier, but the official time is 1 PM right?

We can pre-pay and park at EZ Park, for $50?? Right??? Is there a better option?

I can check in on-line, and print all of my documents ahead of time, right? How far in advance can I do that?

Thanks for answering all my questions.

Just back from the Christmas sailing of the Conquest. I don't know if this ever got answered a while back when it came up so I asked a crew member when dry dock would be. They are expecting dry dock in October.

We booked our transfers to and from the airport this round directly with Carnival and both embark and debark went very smoothly with mimimal delays. We did self debark and were at Houston airport by O930 AM. at which point I got told off by my teenage son for getting him out of bed too early! LOL.

REENB,

Quick question (or two). You did self-disembark and took a Carnival Shuttle and made it to Hobby by 9:30AM? How were long were the lines for the shuttle and how long did you have to wait for it to leave?

We "should" be at the airport by 9:55AM for an 11:55 flight and were figuring that the only way to do that was to take a private limo but maybe the shuttle would work.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Joedog
