Joby Posted January 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2007 We've also had a change with our guide, Royston, on St. Kitts now. His A/C is broken and everyone says our 77 yr. old frail Mom should definately have A/C. I've had all of our tours set up for 3 months and just 3 days ago found out changes on St. Kitts and Dominica and a slight bobble (now fixed) on Grenada! I've posted on the St. Kitts board and found info on: Thenford Gray--already booked Clement Richardson--no response Rose of Jim & Rose Taxi Tours--no response Annies Tours--no response Socrates Hodge--too expensive ($25/hour for 9 hr = $225) Can anyone give us some first hand recommendations to set up a guide today? We want to tour the whole day and snorkel. We leave Sunday!!!!
Fang Posted January 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2007 We had one of our best shore excursions on St. Kitts. Try Greggs Safari (?), just do a search and it should come up. I would book again, without hesitation. We (DH and 2 DD) did a combo tour. 1/2 day going around the island then 1/2day at a beach. It was very nice. Loucat Posted January 19, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2007 We found Rose by accident. We did not have anything planned and got off the ship and started walking toward the shops. She was stopping passengers and asking if they wanted a tour. We waited a short time until she had a van full and then we took off. She may still be doing the same thing! Her tour was very good and she is so personable. There are many other tour guides doing the same thing at the port. If you do not book before, just get off and find a tour guide. You may mention you are a CC member as I am sure any of them like good press. Good luck and have a great cruise!!
Joby Posted January 19, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted January 19, 2007 Loucat and Fang, would you be willing to share what the cost of the tour was? Also, any specifics such as: amount of time touring, where did you go, lunch included, admission fees included, etc. Rose has not reponded to my email, maybe later today. Did hear from Annie Fontaine and her price was $35/hour. Waaayyyy too much for us to spend. Any other suggestions?

Did hear from Annie Fontaine and her ! Joby- We think it was around $40 per person. No where near $35.00 per hour or we would not have gone. We toured the island, went to a batik factory and Brimstone Fortress. Views are incredible. We had refreshments at the Fort (we paid for them). No lunch as I remember. I suggest that you go to the Ports of Call area and e-mail Liz Pereira. She is an expert and lived there. She is usually on the boards daily. I was in contact with her before we went to St. Kitts. As you are leaving tomorrow, good luck. The only thing I would avoid is that scenic railroad tour. According to the islanders, it breaks down on a regular basis. Joby Posted January 20, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted January 20, 2007 Hi Loucat, thanks for the info. I have been in contact with Liz. She has gone out of her way to help! I am very appreciative of all that she has done. Very kind of her. Our original guide has offered a sub that he says he has known for years and does a very good job. The day and price would stay the same. We are now leaning toward going that way. I'll be sure and post when we return. Thanks to all for their help:)
