mnm Posted July 26, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 26, 2004 hi there, the renaissance is not bad and quite close to the terminal (less than 5 mins. by cab). it's clean and decent - not a five star like the westin, pan pacific or fairmont waterfront (all near the port), but definitely good value. it's on hastings (which sounds suspect if you are familiar with vancouver), but it's on the "nice side" of town (right downtown, across from the Delta Pinnacle and some office buildings) and close to the seawall that connects up to stanley park, so if you have time for a stroll, i recommend it. the renaissance also has a nice waterview, but they are building luxury condos in front of it, just before the shoreline, so depending on when you are travelling, you might not have a view anymore! and, that's assurance too that you are in a nice area since they wouldn't be putting luxury condos in a suspect area. i think you would be fine. enjoy your cruise! ngraystark Posted July 29, 2004 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2004 We stayed there several years ago pre-Alaska cruise. It was a nice hotel, we had a harborview room that was well-kept and spacious. We particularly enjoyed the view of Canada Place, the float planes taking off and landing and the fireworks at night (we were there during the fireworks festival). Not a bad walk to Robson or Gastown from the hotel. I would stay there again!
