salty dingo Posted January 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2007 Muster drills are usually held after the deadline for boarding, which is often 30 minutes prior to sailing. This is so that all the passengers have arrived and can participate. In two sailings from San Juan, which left at 10 PM, they had an open seating dinner, similar to how lunch is conducted. I believe we ate before the muster drill, but I can't remember exactly when.
erms Posted January 29, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted January 29, 2007 I guess my biggest concern was that I could very well be in bed by then:mad:, especially after a 17 hour flight.
judyfssw Posted January 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2007 I would guess that your muster drill will be about 9:30. And, the room stewards have to check each room to make sure that you attend. Could you sleep sometime during the day?
salty dingo Posted January 29, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2007 You can retire as soon as your room is ready. But the alarm is loud, so you will certainly be awakened for the drill. After going to the drill you may be rested enough to watch the sailaway!

robhil Posted January 31, 2007 #9 Share Posted January 31, 2007 I believe by law it is much light flight instructions. It must happen before they depart.
jojogo Posted January 31, 2007 #10 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Hi Erms...we also are on the same cruise. If Celebrity is doing what was done on the Millenium 1/22/06 same cruise the muster was held between the 2 dinner seatings on the 2nd night aboard. A fellow member did an incredible review of all aspects of this same cruise with fantastic helpful hints and has a link in the signature area. Dileep is the member. Thank you Dileep for the time and effort to help the rest of us!:D
aussiedisneyfan Posted January 31, 2007 #11 Share Posted January 31, 2007 We sailed at 11pm and I am sure ours was the next morning. But it has been a while so maybe I am remembering incorrectly.

Bob Thank you Bob, I will make sure I am fully dressed:D Now on a more serious note, could you see much "photography wise" at that hour. We have an aft cabin, would that be an advantageous spot for pictures? Esther
KevBew Posted February 2, 2007 #15 Share Posted February 2, 2007 but we had an 11:00 pm drill out of SJU and after flying from the west coast overnight we were worn out. I mentioned this to our cabin attendant and butler and they told us if we stayed in the cabin through the whole drill they would tag our door. Now I know the importance of the drill should there be an emergency but this was our third trip on the same ship, in the same cabin. However, we didn't get any down time because the room PA system was so loud we would have been better off going to the drill. My understanding is on some ships they have started calling off names? Could be rumor but if true you might be embarassed showing up in your jammies after being hauled out of your cabin. Our plan for the next cruise is to arrive a day or two early so we can avoid being so wiped out. I would feel terrible if they made the whole ship wait for me just because I was a poor travel planner. Besides can you imagine being hissed at by all of your fellow pax when you walk into the dining room for making them wait?
salty dingo Posted February 2, 2007 #16 Share Posted February 2, 2007 I believe by law it is much light flight instructions. It must happen before they depart. Actually, by law (US Coast Guard) it must be within 24 hours of departure. But who in their right mind would do it after departure?
