Triumph vs. Imagination

There are 11 of us ranging in age from 7-61. We are planning a W. Carribean cruise for June 9. There's a 5 day on the Imagination and a 7 day on the Triumph that we are looking at. Both stops in Grand Cayman and Jamaica. The Triumph also stops in Cozumel in which we have all visited.

Has anyone sailed on both ships? Is there a big difference in amenities? I know the Glory has Fish 'n Chips, does either of these boats?

There is a $120 per person difference in the price. Is it worth it? here are 11 of us which is a difference of $1320. I know there are 2 extra days and that is wonderful. I am mostly concerned with the ship.

Your help is greatly appreciated as we have to decide and book ASAP/

Thanks.

Just got back from the Triumph and did the Imagination last year. 2 of my friends liked the Imagination better, liked the layout better and the decor. I liked the Triumph better, loved the decor and layout. Triumph - The pizzeria is out by the pool, dont have to go inside. More soft serve ice cream/yogurt stations. It has a deli which we used often for lunch and a chinese food station, neither had long lines. I didn't notice any fish and chips. The buffet on the Imagination had much better food, the one of the Triumph seemed to be lousy leftovers. I think the Triumph had more pools. I liked the 5 day cruise better though, it was plenty for me. Our room on the Triumph seemed much better also.

Well, I would say NO WAY to Imagination. It was the worst cruise we have ever taken, nothing went right. We havent been on the Triumph, but I wouldn't even consider that, being that its Carnival. I would look into Royal Caribbeans Enchantment of the Seas (it does the Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman 5 day) or the Mariner of the Seas (7 Night western Caribbean). I really discourage you from Imagination, it was truly a disaster. Our better cruises have been on Royal Caribbean, give them a try!

We were on the Imagination at Christmas and had a wonderful time. There were five of us and we had two cabins. Our age range was 19 to 56. The food was great, shows were great. Even though we did not win, we still had fun in the casino. We took excursions both places and in Jamaica the Dunn River Falls and Exclusive snorkeling was very disorganized. The Falls were beautiful but this excursion was not worth the money as the tour operators were so disorganized. We did notice that things were a little off and by that I mean small things like the waiter forgetting our drinks at night--nothing that made our trip bad (just different than other cruises). I like seven day cruises best but I could honestly tell you that this five day one was great. You will have a lot of fun. STaff is great. Embarkation was a breeze. Nothing to really complain about.

I will be cruising the Imagination for the third time in March (17). the crew has always been helpful and gracious. Our cabin and stewarts have been very nice. The decor while some might say is gaudy. Compares with most of the top hotels in Vegas. Like someone said I would not decorate my home that way. But Vegas like the Imagination is a GREAT place to visit.

The imagination 5 day cruise fits our scheduling, and we like the ports of call, Grand Cayman and Jamaica. The 5 day cruise is priced right! and allows a couple days of relaxation in florida or home before returning right to work.

I will be on Imagination April 9th with my husband and 17 year old son, 16 year old daughter and 14 year old son. This will be our first cruise and our TA recommended this because I had to "sell" my husband on a cruise and this was a short cruise and from what she said good value for the money. We will be in Miami early and am curious what this S.Beach cruise is that you mentioned. We have yet to book a hotel or pre cruise activities.

Nightlife - almost identical, except, the piano player on Triumph was much better than Imag. but that can change. We went to the disco one night on Imag, and it was packed and fun, went one night on Triupmh and we were the first and only ones there, I imagine it picked up. The karokee bar was PACKED on the triumph. Clubs are similar on both ships. Nightlife is good. On princess everyone is in bed by 10. We arrived in so. beach 2 days early also, it was great. Drinks are minimum $7.50 and some places charge $15 and more for a rum and coke, so watch out. Most drinks are watered down also.
