VicKen Posted January 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2007 Anyone who has done the Istanbul -Athens cruise on the Norwegian Jewel tell me where the Jewel docks in Istanbul? Since we board on Saturday and don't sail until Sunday afternoon we are trying to plan some activities that will be in close proximity to where we are docked. Wendy The Wanderer Posted January 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2007 I think most cruise ships dock in the same area. Have a look here: http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/go/Istanbul/Transport/yolcu_salonu.html This link gives you some orientation. This is on the more modern side of Istanbul. If you want to hit the historic sites, you'll have to take a cab or a tram across the Golden Horn to the Sultanahmet.
VicKen Posted January 30, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted January 30, 2007 That is exactly what I needed - we are staying two nights in the old part of town before transferring to our ship so it will be nice to explore the asian side. Wendy The Wanderer Posted January 31, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Oh that's great, good for you! It's actually the European side, I think at least. The Asian side is the other side of the Bosporus, this is just the other side of the Golden Horn (the smallish river running through the city.) I'm jealous, we spent 6 days there, and I would love to go back!
