European Shopping

Hello Everyone,

We are planning a Western European cruise and are looking for a cruise that has ports where we can get off the boat and walk to shops, cafes etc. Is this possible?

Thanks

Don't know if any of the big cruise lines go there, but Mahon in Minorca which is part of the Balearics in the Med is great.

When we cruised years ago, the ship sailed up the straight to Mahon and docked on the high street. You just get off the boat, go up some steps and there's the shops. In fact we went shopping in the morning, got back on board for lunch, and went out again in the afternoon.

Some of the closest ports for walking are:-

Vigo; La Corunna; Malaga, Cadiz; Villefranche; Venice; Katakolon (Greek Islands generally); Calvi; Monte Carlo; Gibraltar; Palermo and Kusadasi. There are others such as Barcelona, Lisbon, Marseille etc where you would be recommended to take a shuttle bus. Rome is one of the stops which is furthest from its port of Civitavecchia.
