cruise wizard Posted February 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2007 We are cruising out of Venice on Splendour of the Seas in October and will be staying in Venice for 2 days prior to cruising, our hotel is the new Hilton Molino on Guidecca. What is the best way to get from the Marco Polo airport to the hotel/port? Costs? Any suggestions on places to visit or restaurants would be appreciated. Thank you!! travelingmcmahans Posted February 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2007 I don't know where your hotel is located I'm afraid, but if you have the chance to take a water taxi and don't mind the 90 euros it costs, by all means do it. Few experiences in life equal arriving in Venice by boat. Pure magic.
cruise wizard Posted February 7, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted February 7, 2007 Thanks for the info - question - do the water taxi's take credit cards? Thanks
the2006Junket Posted February 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2007 We also took the water taxi to our hotel (the Westin Europa and Regina) and thoroughly enjoyed this low stress way to arrive at our hotel. I didn't ask if they take credit cards, but somehow I doubt it. Lynne
travelingmcmahans Posted February 9, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2007 I don't recall that they took them -- there is an ATM though, inside the arrivals hall, turn to your right and it's at the end.
snow4sandtoo Posted February 10, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2007 For those of you who have been to Venice, I would like ask a question. I was wondering how hard it is to exit and enter the water taxis?? When we complete our cruise we plan to stay an extra couple of days , and think we have narrowed it down to staying at place called Ca'Angeli, that from what I have read is good, it is number 2 on Trip Advisor, however when looking at the pics, you see a boat and I wonder if this is the water taxi????? How does it work with luggage ?????? I would appreciate any info. you could provide. Thanks. Liz
suekay Posted February 10, 2007 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2007 On exiting the airport turn left and walk around 400yards to the water taxi docks. There are lots of water taxis and it's a bit chaotic (we paid in advance online at www.motoscafivenezia.it) but when you find a taxi, the man will load and unload your bags. My 78 year old mother managed to board with no problem:)
cruise wizard Posted February 11, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted February 11, 2007 Thank you Suekay - I have sent an e-mail requesting quotes so that I can make a reservation. Were they reliable on picking you up for your return to the airport? Any advise on how early you need to be at the airport? We have a 10:00AM flight.
