Ambassador Hotel in NOLA?

Anyone stay at the Ambassador hotel? Want to book it for 2 nights prior to March 11 Sun. Its on Tchoupitoulas st. Is it close to the pier? Could we walk to Jackson Square and French Quarter? Looks like an older hotel but really good price ($110 a night).
