Do we need passports just to cruise?

We are wanting to take the same cruise we took last year, since we enjoyed it so much! I walk with a cane and am just going to stay on the ship when we port (Cozumel, Mexico and Costa Maya), My friend is going to stay on the ship too. Will we need passports?

Not yet but you will starting next year - my advise get them for the future

If you would have to fly back to the United States for any reason, you would need a passport.

 

They are required on air flights back into the United States.

If you had an emergency and had to unexpectedly return to the US via air, you would need a passport. I would recommend getting one.

If you had an emergency and had to unexpectedly return to the US via air, you would need a passport. I would recommend getting one.

 

In addition, the airlines will not let you board without a passport since they have to fly an individual back if for whatever reason, entry in the US is denied.

I have mine so i don't have to worry but i just checked the website and the date has been pushed back again, what is the hold up here, anybody know?

I forgot to add that we are shipping out of the Mobile port which we are driving to. (No flying.)
