Rio - Immigration times

We're planning on connecting to Iguassu Falls after our International flight arrives in Rio from the US. How long has it been taking Americans to clear Immigration & Customs?

When we arrived last year into Rio, it hardly took anytime at all. We are Australians but I don't think it would make any difference which country you come from.

 

It certainly didn't take anything like the time it takes us when we arrive into the U.S. That can vary from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the lines!

Thanks Jennie. Are Australians fingerprinted entering Brazil as we Americans are? That is why I was concerned about making an 11am connection after a 7:30am arrival. Sao Paulo has better connections to Iguassu and I'm trying to decide if we should arrive there, rather than Rio.

No they are not fingerprinted or having to look at the camera etc.

 

They just check to see if you have the correct Visa in your passport. I know we were out so quickly that our guide hadn't arrived to take us to our hotel.
