emmaco Posted February 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2007 Hi, Just wondering if anyone sailed Thanksgiving week and did the cruise line serve turkey dinner. Thanks! Emma
travel girl23 Posted February 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2007 We sailed the Elation out of Galveston over Thanksgiving several years ago and, yes, we did have turkey and dressing as one of the dinner selections that night. We were in Belize that day and it was very warm - in the 90's, so it did not seem like Thanksgiving at all. Also, at dinner, we were presented with a Thanksgiving menu on parchment paper and rolled up and tied with a ribbon as a souvenir. When we returned to our cabin, we had a turkey towel animal on the bed. That was about the extent of the Thanksgiving festivities. BTW, the ship was decorated for Christmas when we boarded. hajekfam Posted February 14, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2007 We have done a couple of cruises over Thanksgiving on Celebrity. They did have turkey with all the trimmings (no green bean casserole though) as one of the dinner choices. The first one that we did was a 7 day cruise and we would never do another 7 day over Thanksgiving again. There were a large number of family groups that took all the large tables in the dining room. We were put at a table for 4. Our 14 night transatlantic over Thanksgiving was different as there were very few children and family groups on board and we were seated at our normal table choice for 8 or more. paul929207 Posted February 14, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 14, 2007 We were on the Regal Princess last Thanksgiving and they offered the traditional dinner that night. They also had up all the Christmas decorations, so the ship was very festive. Paul
Happy ks Posted February 14, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 14, 2007 I just want to add that we have sailed both Thanksgiving and Christmas and if we had the resources to do so, we would sail every Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is a delight!
Marlissa Posted February 14, 2007 #7 Share Posted February 14, 2007 We were on the NCL Sun this past Thanksgiving. They did have turkey as a choice for dinner.
ondeckatsea Posted February 14, 2007 #8 Share Posted February 14, 2007 We've sailed on Thanksgiving once and another coming up this year on Explorer, also Easter twice, Mother's Day, St. Patrick's Day and Super Bowl. the lines do a nice job. We've also been on cruises around Christmas, not not the actual holiday and it is very pretty.
Tmeister Posted February 16, 2007 #9 Share Posted February 16, 2007 We've done three Thanksgiving-week cruises, and traditional turkey dinner was available on all three. Three years ago on the Sun Princess, though, the chef went overboard: nearly every dish had pumpkin in it. It was really appalling, and I hope the chef learned his lesson from all the negative comments the meal received.
