Rare makai 7 Posted February 16, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2007 We just put a deposit on a 2008 HAL trip around the horn from Chile to Brazil. We already have our "visas" from Chile from a previous cruise, but were wondering if you need a visa (as a US citizen) if you are arriving in Brazil by ship (and leaving by air). Thanks for any insight!

Did you ask HAL?
traveller123 Posted February 16, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2007 Yes, you will need a visa for Brazil. Check with HAL or your TA for information. As well, you can check the website for the Brazilian Embassy in the United States. You only have to apply close to the date of departure... I don't think you can apply before 90 days of entry to Brazil. You will have to send your passport and application form to the Embassy for processing. Depending on where you live, etc. will determine the length of time for processing. There are lots of posts on CC regarding the visa requirements for Brazil. Aussie Gal Posted February 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2007 You definitely will need a visa for Brazil. We were on the Veendam in Sept/October and we went up the Amazon as far as Manaus. All the passsengers had to have Brazillian visas before they were allowed on board the ship when we embarked in Vancouver. Earlier, in January of last year we went to Rio to board the Regal Princess for our 21 day cruise around the Horn and to Antarctica. Again we needed a Brazilian visa to enter Brazil. We actually had to buy 2 visas one for each cruise as the visas issued for Australians are only good for 30 days at a time. Jennie
