Are you into carousel rides? Have small children to keep amused while on your pre-cruise trip to Southern California? Here are some places to ride the horses (and giraffes and tigers…)

Griffith Park, 4730 Crystal Springs Dr., LA

Santa Monica Pier, 350 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica (www.santamonicapier.org)

Shoreline Village, 429 Shoreline Village Dr., Long Beach (www.shorelinevillage.com)

Valencia Town Center, 24201 W. Valencia Blvd, Valencia (www.valenciatowncenter.com)

Ventura Harbor Village, Harbor Blvd/Spinnaker Drive, Ventura (www.venturaharborvillage.com)

The last two are a bit of a distance away from the San Pedro/Long Beach area.

I believe there is a carousel in San Diego.

Any additions or changes, please list them here for our visitors to be.

San Diego has two very fine carousels that are convenient for cruisers:

Seaport Village (about 1/2 mile from the cruise ship terminal)

Balboa Park (right next to the entrance to the Zoo)

Both are historic with antique figures and both let you catch the brass ring!
