Transfers

We just made our final cruise payments this week and decided to add our transfers on to the cost of our cruise. When our TA called X to take care of it, she was told that because we were coming into Amsterdam a day early and leaving a day late, we could not get transfers through X.

 

I thought this was very odd. Granted, this is only our second cruise on X, but we've done this before on HAL and there was no problem. (We flew in and out on the same day on our previous X cruise.)

 

Does this seem strange to anyone else or is this normal?

Usually transfers are from airport to cruise unless a hotel is booked through the cruiseline.

Princess, and I believe Holland America, will sell transfers (if available) under circumstances similar to those OP describes.

We were planning on staying near the airport so we can go back there to pick up the transfer bus. (That's what we did with HAL)

You can take a cab from the airport to your hotel - assuming it is city-center - will cost about Eur. 45-50, depending on the traffic.

Schiphol airport also has a good trainconnection to Amsterdam Centraal Station, but you will have to load/unload your luggage yourself and there is no good place to stow it. Keep on eye on it at all times. From Centraal Station either walk or tram or cab to your hotel.

From/to the cruiseterminal there is tramnr. 25 to/from Centraal Station, int/from city center and beyond, which can be an option if you donot have much luggage (but keep on eye on it all the time) http://www.gvb.nl/english/travellers/maps/index.html

or again a cab.

To from your hotel another option is the(small) shuttlebus that has a schedule along many hotels. for more details and prices check this website:
