Doubletree Hotel San Pedro Questions??

Does anyone have any info on the Doubletree Hotel San Pedro at 2800 Via Cabrillo Marino, San Pedro??

Our next cruise is on Celebrity's Summit out of the Port of Los Angeles World Cruise Ship Terminal in San Pedro. Thinking of booking this Doubletree hotel and need some pros and cons if possible from people who are in the know. :) What is the nearby neighborhood like? Is it possible to walk to the Red Car Line Trolley from this hotel?? What other sightseeing things are there close by?? We'd like to stay 2 nights before going on the cruise so your help would be greatly appreciated. How far is the airport from this hotel? What would a person expect to pay for a taxi from the airport to the Doubletree?

Please share any and all info on the above.

Pat :)

2Canucks, I can give you some info on the Doubletree. We stayed there a couple of weeks ago, and I think it's the very best in San Pedro. Actually, it's one of the nicest hotels we've stayed in anywhere. The one bone I have to pick is that we reserved the hotel through AAA months and months earlier. When we got to the hotel they told us they don't offer the AAA discount on weekends. The chocolate chip cookie made up for it!

We upgraded to the marina view and were so glad. The back of the hotel borders the marina, and the views are gorgeous. The hotel is at the very end of the channel, and you can see the ships enter the channel (if you're up early enough in the morning) or leave in the evening.

The hotel's restaurant is a coffee-shop type, with a very good menu and is quite reasonable.

We will definitely stay there again.

We only stayed at Doubletree one night prior to cruise.

We did use a SuperShuttle from LAX to the Doubletree. The trip was about 30-45 minutes. We came in Friday night. Once at the Doubletree they have a complimentary shuttle within a certain radius of the hotel (can't remember if it was 5 or 10 miles). We did use that shuttle to reach the pier on Saturday.

We walked along the marina on Saturday morning and to a "walkable" wine shop, but there isn't any real "sight-seeing" in walkable distance.

Not sure about Red Car Trolley.

The hotel itself was fine, nice linens, clean, coffees shop/restaurant with huge sandwiches (consider splitting them), free internet in lobby and yes, warm cookies on arrival.

Sign up for the shuttle to the pier early...it fills up fast. When we arrived later on Friday only the 1 pm slot was available.
