medcruiseplanner Posted March 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2007 Hi All, We are cruising in Sept. The cruise ends in Venice. We would like to book the secret itinerary tour for the doges palace but the latest tour is 11:55. Do you think this is doable? We have CC rooms. We only have 1 day where we will be in port at this time and unfortunately that is disembark day. On a previous RC cruise we waited hours to get off the boat. . . Thanks
Susan-M Posted March 2, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2007 I had booked an 11:35 a.m. Doges Palace Secret tour on the day that we disembarked from Millennium. We were off the ship by 8 a.m., checked into our hotel by 9 and had time to spare before the Doges tour.
jezzdogg Posted March 2, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2007 Same here.....they start the disembarking at 5 am and have everyone off very early that day. Enjoy the tour, and bring a bottle of water with you, it gets very hot in the area of the tour
cruiserJay Posted March 2, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2007 The palace is very, very interesting. We did a HAL Venice roundtrip in Oct 2005. We did not book a tour, but rather put our bags into day storage at the cruise terminal, then walked to the waterbus (not very far, IIRC), and rode down the Grand Canal to the Palace. Then we bought tickets and took the tour. Then, we took the water bus back to the area of the cruise terminal, collected our bags, and took a taxi to the airport. I believe the entire process, along with a couple of hours walking around the St. Marks area took 6 hours or so. We were fortunate in that we were able to stay in Venice 3-4 days before the cruise so that we got to see some of the City. It is a beautiful city. No matter how long you are there, it won't be long enough.:)
