Own Snorkel Stuff?

Is it worth bringing/buying our own snorkel stuff before heading to Bermuda? I'm not too keen on using stuff that has been in other people's mouths.:o

If the thought of using the gear you can rent bothers you I would suggest you bring your own.

 

The first time I went snorkeling in Bermuda I used theirs but only because I wasn't sure if I would like it. I now have my own gear and bring it on all my cruises.

I'm not real sure if I'll be able to handle the just breathing throught the mouth, but the more I think about it I'll probably look for some at the end of the season. Appreciate your input!:)

We started bringing our own quite a few years ago.

The ones you can rent never really seem to fit properly and leak.

Nothing like sucking in salty water.:)

You can get great deals on them now at the local stores

The tour boats due sanitize the equipment (though I don't know how well). I used theirs the first time, but after I found out how much I loved snorkeling, I bought my own and bring it on all my cruises. You can get some good equipment relatively inexpensively. I think mine was on sale for about $29 and has worked well.

If you get your own you can practice in a local pool ahead of time also. The fins are tricky and can charlie horse the legs if you don't work thos muscles ahead of time.
