cruisintwinsmom Posted July 31, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2004 Is it worth bringing/buying our own snorkel stuff before heading to Bermuda? I'm not too keen on using stuff that has been in other people's mouths.:o
AuntieBon Posted July 31, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2004 If the thought of using the gear you can rent bothers you I would suggest you bring your own. The first time I went snorkeling in Bermuda I used theirs but only because I wasn't sure if I would like it. I now have my own gear and bring it on all my cruises. cruisintwinsmom Posted August 2, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted August 2, 2004 I'm not real sure if I'll be able to handle the just breathing throught the mouth, but the more I think about it I'll probably look for some at the end of the season. Appreciate your input!:)
bermudashorts Posted August 2, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2004 We started bringing our own quite a few years ago. The ones you can rent never really seem to fit properly and leak. Nothing like sucking in salty water.:) You can get great deals on them now at the local stores
Imagolfnut Posted August 2, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2004 The tour boats due sanitize the equipment (though I don't know how well). I used theirs the first time, but after I found out how much I loved snorkeling, I bought my own and bring it on all my cruises. You can get some good equipment relatively inexpensively. I think mine was on sale for about $29 and has worked well. Have fun! Marge B.

Soon2Bmtnest Posted August 6, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 6, 2004 If you get your own you can practice in a local pool ahead of time also. The fins are tricky and can charlie horse the legs if you don't work thos muscles ahead of time.
