Question about Melbourne Port

You will walk off the ship, into the Customs hall where there is a tourist information centre, a couple of shops, then you will go down an escalator to the dock and walk about 50 metres. Just through the gate, you will meet your friends and family.

If they are lucky, they will be able to park on the dock but if not you may have to walk a little way to their car. They will not be allowed to go any further than the gate as the Security is really high.

We were invited for lunch on the Statendam when it was in port a few weeks ago, and it was a major undertaking with passports etc. to get through that gate. You name has to be on the list!!

Thanks....I didn't think they'd be able to come right to the ship...they are going to take public transit to the Station Pier so parking isn't an issue. Just hope with all the crowds it won't take us long to find each other!

It will be easy as the only crowds will be the passengers exiting from the ship. As I mentioned, no-one is allowed past the Security Guards and as the ship docks early, most people will be on their way to work or if it is a weekend, it will be early, they will not have had time to get down to the wharf.
